I hope the next ios takes their palmish card tasking into predominance as an active task management. Active task management is a large reason to why I chose bb10 over the other options. That and this dam keyboards auto correct actually works!

Did you try any of the third party apps for Android? I've used SwiftKeyX for years and I've never had a problem with it, nor has heard anyone say something bad about it.

What exactly do you mean by "active task management"? As in, the apps you have open and running? That's been pretty standard on Android for a long time.

I have not personally used any droid since about a year, I know a lot has changed in the last two big OS updates. And from what I recall by using them as of late is when you press the task management button you are given a list, both active and history of your apps etc

I also like to have my task management or active app management front facing a long the lines of how desktops do things, or we'll did things before stupid windows 8
I am indeed an old crudgen when it comes to certain things.

Curmudgeon.

You're not going to get a taskbar like desktop OSes have. Screen space is just too valuable to devote to something like that. Besides, one press of a dedicated button and you have what you want.

BB10 can run android apps that are side loaded, and in whatever the newest revision that has been leeked and should be OTA updated soon will allow seamless direct installs of android apps- but I really do not care much for apps, hell WebOS had sufficant apps for what needs I had. I like my OS to support what I want to do and how I want to do it- I hate having to rely on building it up via apps- although at least android does it properly where you can assign a new webbrowser as your default- a new default keyboard etc etc.

Have you used WebOS for a time? Active app + front facing app management is way different than what iOS and Droid has- and I totaly know I am in the very very small minority here of what I was vs what everyone else wants- but to me "home" should show me what I have active in terms of apps on a form of desktop- a few dominate shortcuts - status bar with battery wifi antenna bt time date etc - notification area - I really do not like the screens full of apps and widgets- with your task management as an afterthought or secondary screen. Many say that is very nitpicky and does not matter- and I will admit, to 99.999999999999999% it does not matter- but to me it does.

Your home screen function is still the same, its a nice visual though as it uses the WebOS icons- Itching Thumb was the closest task management launcher - but it I belive has dropped support a few Android versions ago- and for real functionality require root access.

That indeed is one thing that I do like and hate about droid is you can change it, you just got to find the app etc. I was thinking about getting some money together and offering it to a droid dev that would program me a launcher like I want- I know that someone out there could program a launcher that when I press the home button it takes me to a card style navigation etc etc bla bla... but I have no idea how much would be worth their time or mine is putting the cash out lol.

You mean the function that Android has had since 4.0? Press the recents button and you get this:

As far as keyboards go, I used to be one of those who though I could never use an on screen keyboard, but they are a lot better than the used to be. I don't see how I could go back to a physical keyboard for a phone now. Like Deathwing, I use Swiftkey, and its predictions are so good it's spooky.

Yeah, I haven't used WebOS but isn't that exactly the same thing that WebOS does, but with vertical cards instead of horizontal? Matias Duarte, the main designer for WebOS, works at Google now.

Its a small differance with home being a "desktop like" situation vs the seperate task management screen. WebOS took the card metephor and applied it the best- you have to see it in action to get a feel for how it works. I know android has had that form of multi tasking for a while I think 4 brought it in? the revision where they attemped to get rid of hardware buttons- and it still gave you basically a entire history of your apps...but then again droid and ios users never really dismiss their apps actively as they have been conditioned to let the system handel them- and from the 1000's of "why is my battery dead so fast" posts etc. it does not always manage your active/inactive/suspended apps well.

One big thing I do not like on my black berry - is if I am composing an email, I cannot go back and look in other emails- I have to save it as a draft- in WebOS the compose was a seperate card so I could go back and forth at ease- also browser I just made multipule cards rather than tabs, but they are mostly the same there. The gestures on BB10 are a mixed bag, I see why people do not like them- esp coming from WebOS where navigation, management etc. was all gesture based and very consistant throughout the OS and apps- my Pre3 is shattered so I cannot really video it- but I cna video my TouchPad, its app pages where a little worse than the phone version, but its notifications where heads and toes above and beyond awesome- really the best I have ever used.

As far as getting used to a screen keyboard vs a real one is this- on a real keyboard you type accurately and notice your typoes and correct them- with the virtual keyboard you just dont give a shit and keep typeing away and let the auto correct do its thing- a physical keyboard cannot really tell "well he pressed Y but his touch was 40% on T and also 5% on G - then couple that with the previous letter and make a smart choice on the detection or autocorrect.

I don't understand your last paragraph. That sounds like support for a virtual keyboard. Do you expect that having to go back and correct your "typoes" will eventually make you better? There's a certain limit you're going to hit and that limit is pretty much dictated by the size of your fingers relative to the size of the keys. Accept that you're going to fuck up and have software automatically fix it for you. Work smarter, not harder.

Yes, and no. What I mean is I aim for hitting a p on a physical I can tell if I did not not my learned memory, on a virtual I have to rely on the technology figuring it out..and I have to look at the keyboard, I could do non looking typing way better on a physical. I am indeed saying the virtual keyboards are much better than they used to be a year or so ago, or this blackberry one is just crazy good lol.

Do you routinely type on your phone while holding it behind your back? You seem to be doing some serious mental gymnastics to justify your love of dead brands.

Might have been discussed already, but fuck searching 117 pages.

My Verizon upgrade is up soon, and I'd like to stay with an iPhone for some music apps I use a lot. How is the current gen of iPhone? Is there a new one coming anytime soon that I should be waiting for?

The rumor mill continues to churn that the iPhone 6 will have a bigger screen like the Samsung Galaxy. My wife has the 5C and my dad has the 5S and they both like it. I still have the original 4 and its fine for me.

difference between 5S and 5C is negligible in my opinion. The 5S gets you a fingerprint scanner, the faster processor, some dual flash crap, and the ability to take slow motion videos.
