Not to self-quote, but that didn't take long.

Again, this is all coming across as very Mysterio-like unreliable narration. Maybe the implementation will be different enough to keep my interest, but so far this is all coming across as reheated leftovers.

Edit: Actually, just like Far From Home with Mysterio and Nick Fury, there has to be another twist they're keeping under wraps. Mind-controlled Punisher wouldn't be a surprise to comic readers, so most / all of MJ we see is really Sadie Sink?

theyre getting a little desperate, think we'll see Tom Hardy's Venom? unsure on the status of the Sony/Marvel agreements at this point.

FFS Really? The one complaint about the trailer is there is so much in it, and any three of those things make a complete movie: Peter and New Powers; Peter Vs. Scorpio, Peter and Banner/Peter Vs Hulk; Peter and Punisher; Peter Vs The Hand; Peter and MJ/Ned; Peter and Mysterious Villain; Peter and Struggle with New Life; Peter and the Announced Stuff™ that wasn't in the trailer. This will have Civil War level of cameos if they aren't careful. Spider Man isn't the franchise that needs that; its MCU that's on life support at this point.

Trailer's fine, I always thought the memory wipe arc was a mistake anyway. I'm no expert on Spider-Man comics, but when I think Spider-Man I like to think of a fun quip-throwing acrobatic super hero, not a kid / young man depressed, miserable and self-loathing.

The world need less super hero movies, but it also needs less GRITTY GRIMDARK SERIOUS super hero movies, so just throw ninjas, robots and aliens into it it's comic books for fuck's sake.

Well, at it's core, the character is BOTH a quip throwing jovial hero, and a troubled young dude going through a seemingly perpetual string of bad moments, always has been. The ongoing mantra in the comics is that Peter Parker can never really have a happy ending and Stan Lee even once talked in an interview about the point of Peter Parker was more to tell a story about a young guy having issues growing up and such as much if not more than it was about super powers.

This trailer seemed OK to me. I agree it's feeling like they're really trying to get a lot of stuff worked in so unless they have a great and tight story to weave it through this could end up being a mess. But to their credit Spidey/Hulk and Spidey/Punisher are both well known and loved cross over teamups, with the other tops being Spider/FF and of course Spidey/Deadpool. (Which, if the next Deadpool movie was that it might have some serious potential...)

Sony has said they aren't making any more Spider-Man adjacent movies (Venoms and such), but they still retain the rights. Not only would they take Marvel over a barrel to sell them back, they'd need the rights for the Spider-Verse movies in any case.

Which isn't to say Sony couldn't sell/lend the rights to _a_ character back to Marvel, especially if symbiotes exists across the multi-verse, but Marvel doesn't have access to everything.

As to Spidey himself, I hate depressed Spider-Man as well, but Holland is already 30 - you're far more likely to have kids and a mortgage than being Happy Go Lucky by that point.

He's 30 but looks 15. He's a mega twink.
That's actually been documented as possibly the biggest problem with his acting career. He's of a light build with boyish looks, which doesn't translate into "Hollywood leading man" (i.e. the Hemsworths, Cavills, etc...) which has been attributed to reasons the non-Spidey films he's been in as the lead have struggled.

At the same time, I'd give a lot to perpetually look like I was in my early 20's and be skinny....

didn't he sign on for 3 more films? so 2 more after this one, plus whatever marvel movies he will be in. We getting old man Spidey and it already starting to show somewhat, I assume they want him to be the next Tony Stark which I am not a fan of.
