so obviously they’re prepping for Spider-man to participate in Secret Wars. They have to do black suit right? And Venom? To let that cook, I would introduce Eddie Brock in the next standalone spider-man movie and do back to back movies dealing with the suit. Or they do an alternate origin for Venom like insomniac did.

Did they not already introduce Venom in the MCU? Hardy was a joke cameo in No Way Home and didn't participate in the plot at all, but I thought when he was sent back to his own universe he left behind a small piece of Venom goop on Earth-616?

Anyway - 8/10 for me. Be interesting how they rationalize mutant hate vs the love for cap and Spiderman.

Jean Grey's actions in this film are a good start on the road to make people irrationally afraid of mutants (even though Spider-Man himself is a mutant by definition, but not through X-gene stuff).

With Jean Grey being a very young woman on Earth-616, it is implied that the future X-Men members were born later on 616 than in that alternate dimension where we already saw original "old" Storm and Beast at the end of The Marvels, and where the other old cast is coming from for Doomsday (Professor X, Magneto, Cyclops, Gambit, Nightcrawler, etc... So my guess is those X-Men will be gone after Doomsday (either dead or sent back to their own universe if there is still another timeline after Doomsday.

And then we'll be seeing new younger cast for the new MCU X-Men (Weaving as Emma Frost seems official already, Jean Grey obviously, rumors about Adam Driver for Magneto, etc..). A bit convoluted if that's how it's gonna happen, but hopefully they stick the landing, the X-Men haven't had good movies in a good while (the last decent one was Days of Future Past).

They have already more or less revealed Ms Marvel is a mutant as well. As for Driver, Fiege has said him turning down roles with them is now a tradition, IDK if that changed here. They are def going for a X-Men First class vibe so expect all of them to be in their early 20's with Prof X, Magneto and Wolverine somewhat older. No idea what they will do for Magnetos backstory.

I can’t remember if something got left behind by Hardy. But this would be a chance to “do it right.”

I doubt it will break any records for totals but quite impressive to break the opening weekend record, especially when most people were thinking 250ish a week before opening. This and The Odyssey really did quite a number the last month.

I don't think it's anything near Spoiler territory to say Spiderman is going to be in Secret Wars, I'd honestly be surprised if he wasn't in Doomsday as well, but I don't recall or haven't cared enough to check. As for how to do the black suit. I can imagine ways they do it with Venom, I can also imagine ways they could pull off a basic idea of it without going full venom. My problem is... If it's the team behind the Spiderman films determining how to handle it they've earned my trust, if it's the main line MCU writers? We're gonna end up with Venom being mutated mustard hole mucus....

And since they've now introduced their Jean Grey, and cast their Emma Frost I only have one serious question now.....

What bastard is going to get to be the Cyclops in that sammich?

And yeah, they're blatantly setting up Jean for X-men, that's obvious. I was thinking about how to handle Magneto's back story. First idea was simply substitute someone from another , more recently genocided, race/people but that pretty much means we get a Palestinian magneto (bwaahahahaha). Or even better... A white South African Magneto?

But another thing to remember, and this would piss off a LOT of a certain group (who Hollywood is both run by and apparently en vogue to speak up against?!?!?!) Is the fact that Magneto has not always been canonically a holocaust survivor, or even Jewish. He was created in the early 60's as just "magnet powered super strong mutant supremacist". He didn't get his tiny hat until the Claremont run in the early 80's, almost 20 years later, and it just stuck. They could always just revert to "he's just a bad fuckin dude".

Same problem with how if they wanted to reboot Captain America with the same time lost from being on ice then he would have been frozen sometime around the first Iraqi conflict.... And would be an early Gen X'er or late born Boomer.

I was just checking to see the quality of the cams out and it starts off with Wolf like me 🤩 gonna try to see it tomorrow. Song brings back a lot of memories lol

Went to check cause I was thinking that song was "kind of old," thinking within the last decade or so. Apparently they haven't even released an album since 2014 (Happy Idiot was from that album). Wolf Like Me is from 2006. Where do the years go? What the fuck, man?

Just wait until turn on the radio in your car and realize....
  1. No young person listens to a radio anymore...
  2. The "oldies" station is playing shit from the 90s.
