Been playing this super casually after deciding to check it out during the holiday event. Game definitely seems improved since I gave it a couple months back in 2013, space combat still really fun, though seeing nearly everyone spamming Beam Fire at Will looks silly in group content. One thing that hasn't is the crazy high prices for desired lockbox ships/items...always wanted the Jem'Hadar Attack Ship, now I see the new version is going for 750 million!

That seems quite a bit more than the last time I checked. Most of the ships from the new boxes are around quite a bit cheaper except for the Vonph which is around the same price. I'm trying to pick up the lockbox ships as they come out because they go up over time. Picked up a tarantula this weekend but gotta make some more EC before I can buy more. And as for the freebies I'm liking the anniversary ship better than the holiday ship but that's probably because I've been looking for a good science ship for a while.

Star Trek Online: Into The Breach Event | Star Trek Online

Greetings Captains!

The STO Team is pleased to reintroduce The Breach queue as part of an exciting new event, ?Into the Breach?. This queue has been refurbished and adjusted to address some quality of life issues as well as to create a better experience for an event of this type. The largest changes include a single assault path on the exterior of the ship, better path communication and objective adjustments with an eye towards a faster completion time. The performance based rewards for this event have also been doubled!

From March 3rd at 9:00AM PDT to March 24th at 10:00AM PDT, Captains between levels 50-60 can queue up for our 5-captain ?Into the Breach? event to defeat the Voth City Ship and earn one Voth Operative Transmission every 20 hours. After collecting 14 of them, players can complete a new Event Reputation project to be rewarded with 50,000 Dilithium Ore, 500 Fleet Marks, and 250 Marks of their choice (Fleet, Omega, Romulan, Nukara, Dyson, Undine, Delta, or Iconian, or Terran Marks) and a brand new T6 Admiralty Ship Card: The V.S.S. Tanius.

BONUS! Once the new main reputation project is complete, a brand-new bonus 1- Voth Operative Transmission project will become available to slot. Completing this will earn players 2,000 Dilithium Ore, 50 Fleet Marks and 35 Marks of their choice (Fleet, Omega, Romulan, Nukara, Dyson, Undine, Delta, Iconian, or Terran Marks).

To participate and earn Voth Operative Transmissions, queue up for either the Normal or Advanced version of the event ? a successful completion of either will award you with one Voth Operative Transmission in addition to your choice of marks. Completion on Advanced or Elite will also reward Voth Cybernetic Implants.

Gather your friends to journey once more into the breach, and we'll see you in-game!

Star Trek Online: Romulan Admiralty Campaign | Star Trek Online

Season 11.5 continues to expand upon our Admiralty System with the addition of the Romulan Republic Campaign. This campaign offers players a new group of Admiralty assignments to assist the Romulan Republic, with a focus on crafting rewards.

Completing Tours of Duty for the Republic will reward players with three Romulan Republic Universal Tech Upgrades. These Tech Upgrades cost no Dilithium to use and give 15,000 Technology Points. Romulan Republic Universal Tech Upgrades have a chance to improve an item?s quality, giving players another avenue to enhance their equipment.

Reaching Tier 10 within the Romulan Republic Admiralty Campaign gives the R.R.W. Zdenia Epic-quality Admiralty Ship. The Zdenia is an Escort with the unique ability to increase both ENG and TAC for every other ship on the same assignment.

As with other Admiralty Campaigns, the Romulan Republic campaign becomes available upon reaching Level 52. We look forward to giving you another way to support the Republic in its efforts to establish itself as a new home for the Romulan people.

Neverwinter with it's combat, interface, and movement was an easy candidate for a console port. Last time I played STO, I had enough abilities on my hotbars to rival my EQ2 characters. I have no idea how they'll make an effective port of this MMO to consoles without severely cutting down on the fluff.

They could probably streamline things. Anyone who does good DPS uses button macros that chain abilities to 2 or 3 buttons.

What are the top 3 reasons to not play this game?

Edit: already found the first one

I tried it for three seperate 60 to 90 minutes sessions.

This is barely, very barely a "game".

Turned it into free disk space again.

STO's main strength comes from being able to customize your character, your crew, your ship, and in how different the various ships play. It also has one of the better F2P models out there (if you play it a lot). But yeah, it has a shitload of jankiness and is worth playing more for the meta aspects of the game than the actual gameplay.

The space combat was fun as fuck. Having had a ship with full fleet gear, epic bridge crew, I could swap them between different ships, change out the various weaponry and consoles depending on the play style I wanted, made for an interesting, but significantly repetitive game play. I could be an amazing glass cannon, tank with bulldozing capacity, tank tank, tank with antishield, sciencey tank with tech and antishield. Though ultimately would stick to the fleet cruiser (Ent-E) with mostly dps load out. The Ent-F is too fat on the turn ratio. Haven't used any of the time ships like the Ent-J.

The original quest line and story and build up was fun, the farming rep, fleet rep, dilithium, not so much. But the rewards were interesting and diverse. But this is a game that came out 8.5 years ago, from a team using an equally dated engine and interface.

If you're not a die hard Trekkie, it's probably hard to get into. Especially at this point, where a loooot of shit has been added. It's not like other games where new shit replaces all the old shit. You're probably still going to use Borg or MACO consoles in a hybrid build with new stuff. Also the ground combat is pure AIDS. Even with the best gear, you'll get shit on. Shame you can't reliably run a lot of it solo, either, not that you'd really want to anyway, since your talents were split between space/ground (they may have since split talent points between the two, it's been a while).

Joining a fleet with full access to all of the perks and gear will help significantly. I've had a Lifetime sub since beta, so that's also been nice, logging in occasionally and getting bonus shit when new stuff comes out. Probably been 2 years though since I've last touched it. Last thing I did was the Delta expac.

You could switch out perks or w/e they're called the last time I played. I used to run with the reddit folks doing the harder ground stuff and it wasn't so bad if you all knew what you were doing. Some of them were simply impossible to do with randoms though.

I lost interest when the Delta quadrant stuff came out and the new level cap plus the new tier of ships just made too many things obsolete. I think they've had at least one more new tier on top of those, so I can only imagine that it got even worse.

I do miss flying my Narcine Dreadnought Carrier beam-boat into the middle of everything and cackling madly as I tanked it all while spewing out glorious beams of death everywhere, while my buddies got to pump out some nice damage in escorts without being bothered by the enemies at all.

I was a plasma beam melt machine. Fuck your shields, I'm gonna melt your hull, and the slow Borg plasma torpedo hit for a truck load. Most weren't fans of plasma, but that shit stacked. Also ran a few escorts but basically being a nuke missile that was too fast for any tank meaning I usually got targeted and blown the fuck up. With the lifetime sub, I get a free ship any time a new tier comes out, so I just pick up the new version of the same ship and swapped out the gear. Probably two tiers behind on gear though, and know I'm missing a fleet level warp core. Still on MK XII, probably MK IV by now.
