Having just watched DS9 in completion, am I the only one who hated the episodes with the whole 'alternate timeline' thing going on?
DS9 is my favorite Trek and I didn't care for them. There were so many better things going on in the regular timeline. And I hate to say it but the "In a Mirror, Darkly" episodes where better and some of the best Enterprise had to offer. It felt like Enterprise was finally getting good then it was gone.

all i have to say is..
The USS Relativity (NCV-474439-G) was a Federation Wells-class timeship that was in service with Starfleet in the 29th century. It was commissioned at the University of Copernicus, and was under the command of Captain Braxton. The vessel was equipped with powerful sensors capable of scanning throughout spacetime, and a temporal transporter capable of beaming an individual to virtually any point in space and time.
Ok there primary job is to fix any fuck ups in the timeline. So a massive "lighting storm in space" which am sure was recorded and kept on record in some starfleet history data bank or two Spocks or the fact that the USS Kelvin was destroyed none of that shit seem's to matter or even trigger Relativity sensors that something is wrong.

damn am pretty fucking mad at movie logic oh well...

Dude it's like Timecop, the timeline in which the Relativity was commissioned was the one in which two spocks already existed. Their job isn't to alter themselves out of existence but prevent further changes to the past because all of this shit happened in the 20-25th centuries.

yeah but aren't they out of phase so that there timeline never changes or there history never changes no matter what happens to reality around them.

Yeah. One of the things I love about Roddenberry purists is when they bitch about something in Trek and say if Roddenberry were around it wouldn't have happen. Then I point out that neither would have DS9 so fuck that guy. Also he was a dick so whatever.

I've been rewatching some DS9 and there's an episode in Season 6 where the female Changeling basically identifies the Dominion as a futuristic HYDRA. So maybe Marvel can do the next TV series.

That episode was like the biggest possible middle finger to Roddenberry I can possible imagine.

Totally awesome.
I don't know man, The Siege of AR-558 was probably a little worse really driving home Quarks observations on humans,

"Let me tell you something about Hew-mons, nephew. They're a wonderful, friendly people ? as long as their bellies are full and their holosuites are working. But take away their creature comforts... deprive them of food, sleep, sonic showers... put their lives in jeopardy over an extended period of time... and those same friendly, intelligent, wonderful people will become as nasty and violent as the most bloodthirsty Klingon. You don't believe me? Look at those faces, look at their eyes..."

- Quark

Also the episode Inter Arma Enim Silent Leges, you have Admiral Ross the only non douchey admiral being totally down with section 31 helping to assassinate the Romulan Senator Cretak, to help place the head of the Tal-Shiar in a prominent position near the head of their government. That to me is the biggest middle finger to Roddenberry.

Yeah but Sisko is the main protagonist of the series. Who cares what Admiral Ross does or what Quark says about humans? The stuff our hero Sisko does, condones, andadmits he would do againin Pale Moonlight is pretty appalling by the high ethical standards of Star Trek.

Honestly, Honor Among Thieves is also a bigger crack in the Roddenbery vision than AR-558 or the Section 31. When O'Brien is infiltrating the Orion syndicate, it shows all the crime and poverty that was supposedly non-existent in the Federation.

Gavinrad, while I agree with what you say, that quote from Quark is awesome. He really progressed into an awesome character that just wasn't great from a comedy perspective...but the fact that he is literally one of the most ingenious financial minds in the Trek universe and has more layers to his character than anyone else with the exception of Garak made him awesome. He plays big parts in really showing that Humanity isn't all it's been portrayed to be.

Well, the planet that Honor Among Thieves takes place on is not a federation planet, so that is a non-starter. Also simply because he is the protagonist doesn't convey more gravitas to the notion of deconstructing Roddenberry's ideal future. AR-558 showed grinding ground warfare and the affect on the soldiers such as PTSD see "It's Only a Paper Moon".

Edit: Also Quark is simply being used to offer non-human perspective that really drives home the difference between Roddenberry purists and the actuality of human nature.

Quark and Garak are pretty high on the top5 star trek characters not named Captain list.
