When it came out, it was actually amazing and the heros weren't as bad because you took a while to get them and the passive card thing meant that people weren't giga busted when they got their special character. Now you have people with full juiced passive shits on yoda and it can be just instant slaughter. I suppose that's fun if you're the slaughterer.

In the beta/early release vehicles on some maps were super fucking dumb too. You basically had like 1 class that could counter them with a special thing no one ever selected so some vehicle andy's were fucking relentless.

That said the actual infantry combat was really, really good. The maps were great too. Outside of the pseudo Hoth map from Episode 8. That map is complete shit.

When I played this 4 or 5 years ago the game was busted. Starting off as a new player it was just endless get raped by max lvl/card hero over and over and over along with cheats galore.

They ever fix any of that?

I’m mainly interested in the Star Wars aspect. I wonder if it’s got couch co-op. The bots would be fine with my little dude.
The first one had some good coop action, very few maps but the difficulty was enough to keep me and the wife busy for a couple of session.
BF1 (not the original, the remake) had also great graphics. They really nailed them on both games.

the game has no cross play so its fun on console (not possible to cheat), its also on gamepass if you have an xbox. There are a ton of modes including some that turn off hero modes (and some that are all-heros-only) so its pretty easy to find a mode you like to play and the game is wildly popular right now due to Andor.

at $10 or less its 100% worth a try, i wouldn't pay $40 for it since EA puts it on sale on steam all the time. The battlefront celebration edition is part of gamepass so worst case just get 1 month of gamepass PC for like $8 and play for a month

I plopped $10 down. At that point I’ll get 2 hours of entertainment which is more than I can say for what it costs for the movies nowadays.

Well, I was going to mess around on Gamepass but then I had to install EA Play and decided I would rather go back to my work laptop and look at Excel.

i played on ps5 and i guess there isn't really a 40v40 mode without jedi/sith but i still had a ton of fun in two games of Supremacy, 40v40 and you can play on either a clone wars map, a trilogy map, or some sort of sequel map. There were a few other map modes too i didn't check out. 120 gig install is kinda yikes too but maybe you can uninstall the campaign or something (prob not, I think this is a ps4 game and that feature is ps5 installs?)

had a TON of fun, i was on Hoth both times and it was really fun and easy playing as either a x-wing/bomber or just regular ass assault trooper, i got to play as darth vader twice but i'd die super fast since everyone on the map targets heroes lol. fast game too, less than 10 mins each time and it reminded me a lot of janky battlefield 3 games. its dumb and not really competitive (a TON of noobs playing who can't aim for shit lol) but hella fun, especially after Andor. On console don't have to worry about cheaters and it really was no issue, I'd literally run up on a tauntaun into the middle of a cluster of enemies and kill them all and run away.

its pretty sad the hype is so there for a great battlefront 3 game but EA/DICE don't have the competency or vision to make it 1/10th the game it could be. they'd fill it with female superheroes and make the campaign story about how Emperor Palpatine is looking to chop his dick off because his dick is the dark side or something stupid.

My faves were the Kashyyyk Beach map and Yavin4. The cloning facility one?. Oh and the OG beta map, the city and palace? Yeah that one was cool too.

Check out some of the space battle ones too. I had tons of fun on those.

I read somewhere online that its Disney actually hampering DICE from making another because of the licensing costs, something like 20% of all sales.

I'm happy that they won't, and/or pray that they won't touch it. If Jackfrags is anything to believe, the way Star Wars ip is handled now is open-ended and the battlefront rights was technically owned by LucasArts and not EA/Dice.. or something like that.. so it's possible Battlefront 3 doesn't have to be developed by EA/Dice.

I want Embark Studio to either get the rights to Battlefront 3, or make a Battlefront esq game. Arc Raiders has so much Star Wars and Star Wars Battlefront spirit; they'd absolutely kill it if they're as passionate as they were for BF2. After all, it's basically DICE. The Finals feels very Battlefield mechanically, and Arc feels very Battlefront. A sorta signature DICE touch is very apparent.

Hackers are still out of control. Had a Vader summoning everyone to him last night and just killing everyone in a few moves. When we left he had 363 kills.

I enjoyed this a lot, but I did get tired of the heroes. I’d probably fire it up again if there was a straight shooter / no heroes mode.

ITs funny because back when I was playing this, I would chose a hero and get curbstomed in seconds. But some of these fucks go around destroying entire legions before dying, lol.

I finally got some time in after buying this and apparently quickly forgetting about it back in 2017.

How are the graphics this good 8 years later? With everything cranked up and HDR turned on it looks amazing. To boot, it rarely dips below 200FPS even @4K with 20+ characters on screen and shit exploding. It was a pain in the fucking ass to get it working without constant crashes, but after some troubleshooting it's been completely stable.

This is perfect if you have a free 30 minutes and are in the mood for a bit of Star Wars pew pew. Games like this shouldn't be so rare nowadays.

Stumbled upon this through that channel. Full on fps focused on troopers. Looks amazing.

Yeah, the whole Kyber thing is fucking cool. It's basically old school server browser where you can add mods, set/browse rules, and host server old-school style, ontop of from what I understand.. Kyber makes the whole downloading mod process a lot easier.. and I think you can technically mix/match but not sure on that. My understanding is there were two main mod packs and was only playable offline with bots until recently Kyber happened.. not sure how accurate that is.

I think it's technically in "alpha?" and is an invite-only through application with their discord.. but you can fasttrack by spending a minimum of 3.50$ via patreaon to get instant access..

Please note that what I linked is a completely different mod based off of insurgency sandstorm and is a fps without heroes.

Yeah, i'm retarded. I thought it was another mod via BF2. A friend of mine told me about the insurgency saga mod a couple months back but we went to play the one for Squad instead which was pretty cool at the time.. but it was more for the vehicle threat, and running duo sapping basically.

That one is pretty good, however, the last time we played the weapons were hilariously inaccurate.

We haven't bothered since they went over the top with weapon sway and inaccuracy in squad. You can tell they've never fired a weapon before.
