That $80 a year has to be some deal they had going on. It was $10 a month years ago when they force added it to the Hulu Live subscription for "free" then months later jacked the price of Hulu by $10.

Ah the UK, can pay the production crew 2/3 and only have 2/3 of the cast return.

edit: i mean return for season 2, not that 1/3 of the cast won't survive the filming. Maybe.

Are you thinking of Acolyte? Because from what I've heard Ahsoka was bad but still wel short of Acolyte bad.
Maybe, it's not like I watched either of them so who knows. Think I saw an article saying the one with magician girls was cancelled and a fat lesbian was the show runner. Just kind of assumed that's all Star Wars nowadays.

it wasn't bad, it was just boring and they severely fucked up Admiral Thrawn in writing and honestly visually too it was a big misstep. They cast the guy who was the VA for him, which is a nice fan service, but the dude is out of shape and older which was a huge mistake

It doesn't help either that the best character in the show died IRL, RIP Titus Pullo but they did recast him for s2 with The Hound from Game of Thrones which is cool i guess

Also one of the fan favorites from the Expanse, Amos, played Thrawns right hand man but he was under a fucking mask the entire season so you never saw his face. Dude is a great actor but its like 90% of his acting is face, why would you do that kinda stupid thing. I don't think anyone outside of hardcore fans even know that was Wes Chatham

the other problem is everyone expected the Mando movie to be a Avengers style team up against Thrawn but that seems unlikely at this point so everything feels like it doesn't matter.

What Spronk said: Ahsoka wasn't bad (well, maybe the last episode was), it just wasn't worth your time, unless you have a preposterous amount of free time / nothing else to watch.

Nothing about Thrawn was executed well; like usual for Disney Star Wars, the only interesting character was the white guy (an antagonist, of course); its very clear this is a sequel show to the cartoons, whose lore / elements are likely very weird / offputting to those not familiar with those shows; its unclear if any of this ties into the Mando movie / overall storyline, making this a complete-waste-of-time sidestory.

There's a reason the only thing you probably heard about Ahsoka was Mary Elizabeth Winstead's ass.

I guess I'll never know. Never watched any of the cartoon shit. I did watch Andor which was pretty good, but nothing else looked like it was worth the time.

That sums it up perfectly. The last season of Mando (a steady decline from S1) and this show killed any hope I had for Favreau and Filoni "saving" the franchise, or at least stabilizing it on life support.

Andor was great, but that show is a unicorn that I don't see ever happening again. In part due to how many people had already checked out of the IP contributing to a less than stellar viewership.

That said, I will probably still watch the next season of Ashoka, just to see what they do with Ray Stevenson's character and how Rory McCann (The Hound) does with it after his death.

Even the Rebels cartoon writers were firmly against turning Sabine into a Jedi or any type of force user. Ahsoka writers disregarded that wisdom and dragged the character down, same could be said about Thrawn.

Narratively the series served to return Ezra, Thrawn, and Dathomir witches back into the galaxy while placing Ahsoka & Sabine and Baylan & Shin out of it. Not much else was done.

I could deal with the visual if the writing was there. They just made him a fat cuck. Fat and stupid.

It made no sense-- given Star Wars has historically struggled with credible villains since Disney bought the IP. After Ryan Johnson's Guardians of the Galaxy humor, people had been waiting for a serious return to form for the villains. There was an expectation that Filoni would be sensitive to that, delivering a credible villain, which didn't happen.

Boba Fatt is where most of us hopped off that wagon. It was so bad that Favreau had to do a public apology and claim it's because they had no source material (which subsequently got him torn to shreds). That was the end of the Favreau and Filoni era.

original 1977 theatrical cut will be re-released in theaters next year and presumably home blurays/streaming soon after. They are working on ESB/ROTJ as well apparently for their anniversaries.

I mean 4k77 and the follow-ups did a ton of work on that front already. But it’ll be interesting to see “official” versions again.

And if they only had the balls to add this to it (and pretend the whole Owi Wan series didn’t happen)
