over a decade ago, friend's in-laws took them the Disney land for 5 days twice, think they spent something like $12k for first time staying on property the year after was around $10k staying off property and not buying as much junk/food.

they should just done it as a themed hotel and restaurant. the bit of larping and games didn't seem to be worth it. if i was a kid the rooms would have been super cool.

Yeah, it seems obvious that making a Chalmun's Cantina-like bar would print money, hire like 12 guys to be random aliens in there, have some novelty drinks amidst a regular menu (Jawa Juice, or stuff that bubbles or smokes with dry ice) and have the cantina music played by the alien band. Every hour or so, have Han Solo shoot a dude in a Greedo-suit at a table.

But no, let's go see Rey and Kylo Ren, that'll work better. Ohh, let's take a selfie with General Hux and we can tell him a yo mama joke!

Sounds like Quarks bar that the Hilton in Vegas used to have. Went along with a pretty cool ride. 2 rides towards the end. Quarks was fantastic.

When it comes to star wars, I'm always a kid. But that cost though.

I've been to disney a couple times and Universal studios 3 or 4 times. I only ever paid for universal trips, and 3 of us were no where near that much money.

Sign George to a studio executive contract as head of Lucas Film. Pay whatever that costs and put Filoni back under him. Problem solved. That was the best we got out of Filoni.

Iger's ego won't allow it though. He's the guy who threw the original sequel trilogy outlines away in a 3:1 vote Kennedy, JJ, Iger at the closed door meeting at the ranch.

Not two hours after wrapping Star Wars: Starfighter, Kathleen Kennedy was ready to discuss the long-in-the-works transition of Lucasfilm.

DEADLINE: What about Rian Johnson returning? After Star Wars: Episode VIII – The Last Jedi grossed $1.3 billion globally, we expected him to return.

KENNEDY: Once he made the Netflix deal and went off to start doing the Knives Out films, that has occupied a huge amount of his time. That's the other thing that happens here. After Shawn and I started talking about Star Wars, Stranger Things kicks in and he was completely consumed for a while by that. That's what happened with Rian. And then I do believe he got spooked by the online negativity. I think Rian made one of the best Star Wars movies. He's a brilliant filmmaker and he got spooked. This is the rough part. When people come into this space, I have every filmmaker and actors say to me, "What's going to happen?" They're a little scared.

DEADLINE: How goes the project that Simon Kinberg is writing and producing?

KENNEDY: He's working right now. He wrote something that we read in August, and it was very good, but not there. We've pretty much upended the story, and then spent a great deal of time on the treatment, which he finished literally about four weeks ago. And it's a very detailed treatment, like 70 pages. And so he is expected to give us something in March.

DEADLINE: Are there any other Star Wars films or spinoffs the fan base will never forgive me for overlooking?

KENNEDY: We've talked about this new trilogy and then the things that you've mentioned. Mangold's is really on the back burner as is Soderbergh's. I think the ones by Taika and Donald are still somewhat alive. That's going to really be up to the new team to figure out. Dave, I know that Dave and Lynwen are very much on board with what Simon's doing, and that would be a new trilogy. In the timeline of things, that takes you well into 2030 plus. So that's really what's up next.

no mention i think of the rey movie, which seems dead now lol. didn't know the starfighter movie has finished production and stars a 14 year old kid either. The "first jedi" movie and Feige's movie seems dead too.

not surprised Simon Kinberg is the only one still kicking around for a new sequel, he worked on all of the Rebels episodes so probably besties with Filoni. he's also responsible for some of the worst movies like Dark Phoenix, Apocalypse, the shitty Fantastic Four, and I guess he created the (really bad) Apple TV show Invasion. Oh well.

George Lucas is just as bad as the ones that replaced him. The prequel trilogy was bad and that was his true master vision. The original trilogy was made great in editing, not by Lucas' genius. If you ever want to remind yourself how bad he is at creating and extending the universe, just remember that when he had total control he introduced Midichlorians.

This is the group of retards Disney has given absolute control of a multi-billion dollar franchise and watched them steer it into the ground. The idea that anyone on the LucasFilm payroll should be retained is laughable.

AFAIK, the solo Rey movie directed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy could still technically happen, it's just in script hell.

The original assumption was the trilogy by Simon Kinberg would negate that movie, but it was then stated that Kinberg's movies would be a new later time frame after any Rey stuff. Assuming _their_ scripts ever get out the door and aren't killed by Filoni and co.

I'm aware. The alternative is letting Filoni do more on his own. Since the time that George was over him, it's debatable whether the quality has been consistent with his previous work with Lucas Film. If you say it's because KK was in charge-- that'd be cope in my estimation, but it does remain to be seen now that the decision has been made.

I will concede that he cannot be any worse. Also, if he were to buy it back then it least it would be out of the claws of a mega corporation and all the negatives that brings along with it. Writing by committee, milquetoast uninteresting characters, the commitment to diversity at any cost.

KK is the only reason Andor happened with the budget (she fought for every dollar) and autonomy it had because her and Gilroy are good friends. Filoni also hated it.

So yea worse. Also hope you like The Volume, because filming outside of one after Starfighter is never gonna happen again.

It was also, according to an individual who worked inside Lucasfilm, a series that Filoni disliked. A Lucasfilm spokesperson denied this as inaccurate.

I could see him not being happy with Gilroy being allowed to blatantly ignore/rewrite canon events already established in Filoni's earlier work but a disputed claim of him disliking it from a single anonymous "source" is pretty thin. You also act like Andor being good somehow balances out all of the other horrific trash Kennedy is responsible for.
