Strong start, the animation has risen another level from Bad Batch, some of the cityscape shots are incredible. Story looks like its going to be really gritty and noir, and its surprisingly violent through the first two episodes. I'd put Maul's body count at 40 or so already.

yeah enjoyed the first two episodes and will watch weekly (2 episodes per week until May 4th, star wars day). I like the tech noir/blade runner vibe. I missed the planet they are on, i assumed coruscant but pretty sure its not since there is almost no imperial footprint there and the cops keep mentioning calling the imps.

Maul is an interesting character to me always, he is almost a super simple character who just wants revenge against everyone and thinks of everyone as just pawns, but somehow it makes for a fascinating character to follow. This show takes place 1 year after revenge of the sith I believe and a few years before Rebels and 25+ years before Mandalorian. Interesting time to see the galaxy, before the Empire really tightens its grip.

Started strong and getting better each episode. Wouldn't be surprised if this slots in right behind Andor as best series so far

Yeah I was wondering the same thing. I don't recall any other planets being described with multi level cityscapes like Coruscant. But I guess in theory it's possible. What would be weird is having such a densely populated planet that the empire is ignoring. That is no backwater.

The planet is Janix. I believe it’s supposed to be outer rim territory, which is why the empire has no presence there.

great 2 new episodes this week. i figured out what it is, this is exactly the show we were hoping Boba Fett would have been (live action), crime lord/syndicate shit and exploring how that side of the galaxy works. Instead of the gay ass power rangers shit we got there, with the show getting undercut by Mando hijacking it lol.

Maul is awesome here, he's not exactly evil and he has a very honorable code but he also treats everyone like disposable garbage. His absolute rage towards Sidious and those who betrayed him is pretty fascinating, sometimes he feels 10 steps ahead of everyone but then I'm not really sure why he gives a shit about this padawan so much, now the Emperor and Vader are gonna know he is alive. Pretty sure now we'll get some Inquisitors and I wonder how much of that we'll explore.

Star Destroyer appearance was a great way to finish the episode, just perfect music cue to setup next week.

Witwer has been voicing him for so long that they've begun to share a mind, therefore Maul knows that this is a prequel and nothing he does can get him killed because he has to survive through Clone Wars and Rebels.

Also if its set in 18 BBY then the Inquisitorius is still in its infancy. Also also, the Emperor already knows he's alive.

You can spoiler it...

but... and I do not care about watching all the random shows but..

Why does he go to ObiWan, why bother really? Is it just his last beef and he knows essentially he will loose? after all that maul does and is after... why?

he is old and dying, would rather die as a warrior than in bed and one last run at the champ. Klingon philosophy lol

i don't remember the dialogue in that clone wars episode but i also would guess he had a vision of Luke finally defeating the Emperor and could die at peace.

Maul's line in Rebels S3E11 when he was trying to convince Ezra was "Our futures converge on a planet with two suns" so he didn't have too many details from visions. Then when he arrived in S3E20 and promptly became fixated on Kenobi he wasn't going to have see anything clearly so he had to bait Ezra for help. Wasn't until they were face to face that he realizes Kenobi has a purpose and in the end he had to straight up ask if it was the chosen one because he legit didn't know.

I just watched the scene - Maul is all like "I am here to kill you" to both Ezra (who led him there) and ObiWan - he was like "WTF you doing here old man? then he was like protecting something...oh...someone..." then they fight and Maul attempts to block a lightsaber with the middle of his hilt...because... and as he dies... "is it the chosen one?" (the thing/person you are here to protect) "Ahh okay, that makes this all better I guess....*dies*"
