I haven't played tabletop Pathfinder in 20+ years, but yes that seems like a lot. I'm sure once I get into it I'll figure it out though.

Yeah it's all there, it's just a lot. You can easily make a shitty character, but there are some guard rails in place with levelling if you choose

I know the rules of each edition of D&D well enough that I almost just see the matrix, but I have zero experience with Pathfinder.
However, I completed both the amazing Owlcat Pathfinder games. As long as you use a little common sense and don't play on the masochistic difficulty levels, you'll be fine with characters that aren't optimized.
If you're a CRPG/Iso-RPG fan, you're genuinely doing yourself a disservice if you never get around to playing those games.

The only thing I hate about the Owlcat games is how fucking wordy they are. It's like their lead writer is an English major and wants to constantly remind us how large of an A he got in class.
Even as somebody who is sometimes way too fucking wordy with things, they need to take a lesson in being more succinct.

The game(s) definitely have too much text and I completely skipped large segments that didn't interest me. Also, the elements directed at the "modern audience" made me cringe and roll my eyes but, as a whole, I loved both.

This may answer for why Rogue Trader was written the way it was but Kingmaker and WotR being obnoxiously verbose is just being faithful to the source material. I remember my group at the time making jokes about Pathfinder modules all sounding like they were written by frustrated English majors and this was 15-20 years ago. In fact the first time I heard Kirun make the English Major comment I wondered if maybe he was one of my old gaming buddies but some variation of "English Major" is just the best way to describe Pathfinder's writing.
At least WotR's writing was worth slogging through which is more than I can say for Rogue Trader.

I just remembered one thing I hated about WOTR is the stupid minigame shit that I turned off immediately. What a boner killer.

I somehow didn't realize I could automate it in the 1st game and I'm pretty sure I didn't finish it.
It's the first thing I automated on the 2nd one so I could get down to some good ol rpg slaughter.
