Kinda want to get one for travel for work, if 2028 is correct I could stomach buying older hardware.

Is the steam deck still superior to all competitor handhelds ?

Steam deck works great for tons of games. Battery life is an issue, but if you just want to plug it in in a hotel room the start gaming its amazing. I don't really think its about better vs a switch. I've never used the switch, but I'm sure I'd be happy with one of those too if I had any games. Never thought about it, but I have hundreds of games on steam, so deck is great.... Even though I play a few specific games like 90% of the time.

I travel with mine and it’s great. Have a magnetic lithium battery I can use for backup battery but I’ve never used it for the deck as I don’t play for hours on end and can charge it between playing, or just have it plugged in while playing in the hotel bed. I did play it for a long time on a flight once but there are plugs on flights now so it wasn’t an issue.

Everything looks so good on the OLED screen.

I have a switch but there isn't much I really want to play on it. Was more interested in other manufacturers offerings like the rog ally, etc.

There was some news about getting steamos onto the ally, and maybe more handhelds a couple months back. Not sure where that ended up.

Grabbed a steam deck. Wondering if anyone has played the Pathfinder games or DoS2/BG3 on there's and how it runs?

I know of protondb but curious your experiences

I subscribed to GeForce Now the other day and damn this service is made for the Deck. Been playing PoE2 with a rtx4080 in the Ultimate tier.

Flawless as long as you got a good connection. No input lag that's noticable for me at least.

I recall trying them both in the past and not liking the UI/controls on Deck.

Edit* for Divinity and BG

Anyone with large hands bave problems with the Steam Deck's ergonomics? Cramps my hands pretty bad if I play for awhile. Buttons feel too close to the edges.

I pretty much exclusively use mine with a dock and Xbox controller because of the ergo.

I have no complaints about the ergonomics myself. Feels way better to hold than my Switch 2 at least.

I've only had it one day but I agree. Something about how flat the switch 2 feels makes it feel worse

Streaming from my gaming PC to the steamdeck is incredible. I was playing pathfinder wotr and it was ok but sluggish. Streaming it gets the deck running flawlessly at 60fps with no hiccups.

Yeah, bought a racing chair setup cheapish from coworker a year ago, meaning to try and figure out how to stream it to our mostly unused bedroom tv for some racing games. Might almost be fun trying to do some kind of RPG or something on the bigger screen as well, like xcom types etc.

I think there is a steam app on the app store for smart TVs.

I was really bummed that xcom wasn't better on the deck. Thats one of the main games I was looking forward to playing. Couldn't get used to the controls and I was constantly clicking the wrong square.

Wartales plays nice on the deck. I know it’s not xcom but it has some similarities and I remember you playing it before. I think.

I did have it have some kind of severe fps crash a few times, not sure if it got too hot or what. I could just save and close it and it would function fine again, so maybe not heat related, idk. It was annoying but only happened maybe three times in dozens of hours on the deck.
