gamestop has high trade values on old ass consoles right now so i scoured my basements for shit i stored "someday i'll play" (I NEVER WILL) and it really sucks how shitty hardware is.

wii: dead. known problem with internal memory or some shit, they die after a few years. gamestop took it in, lol
wii u: didn't even plug in, but apparently most wii u's will die after a few years due to some eMMC flaw. traded in
xbox 360: had two i got free, one was working fine 2 years ago when i played forza horizon 1. now dead, RROD. other boots but overheats and freezes after 2 mins. gamestop did not take these in (they test them), got $5 for two controllers and gave to retro store the systems
3ds xl, vita: similar battery issues as above
ps3: console is fine, but controller has insane stick drift. has been sitting in a box for 5 years untouched. no store around me sells ps3 controllers, buying on on ebay is just full of "does not work selling for parts"

made me realize my steam deck will probably not last another 5-6 years, sucks. oh well, at least pc gaming is built with "this game will run on anything in 10 years" unlike consoles.

There is big demand for 3DS and Vita. The battery issue is easy to fix/replace. Probably way better off putting those up on facebook marketplace or ebay.

I dont know yet. I've only done the tutorial and 2x vs AI games.

I'd assume you're going to see some sort of spike since its 95% off right now, though
You are probably playing against my 13 year old and his buddies. My boy adores this game and plays it a ton. And, to the thread, we got him a Steam Deck for Christmas, he is going to be pumped. He's been saving for one and he never asks for anything (which seems rare these days!) so the fam elected to pool together for one this year.

Wife has a game cube and a ps2 or 3. Wonder if I could convince her to trade, but unless it's cash not sure what we'd even buy, dont console and everything PC i buy is sales.

you can buy steam wallet at gamestop, get the print on receipt version and trade credit/gift cards work fine. I bought like $400 of steam wallet with my trades ($200 left) in case I want the next steam gamecube thingie, not sure i really do though tbh since i have two PCs more powerful than those specs. cube shape is very cool though

I have a 2022 Steamdeck I've been using all the time. If it lasts another 3 years until I need a new one I think that's pretty good. I guess.

I'm not really a retro console person and just use whatever emulator to play old stuff though. I have a lot of respect for Sega Genesis, SNES, N64, Gamecube, some PS2 versions, and so on that just seem to work 20-30 years later.
