I just got two steam controllers and they are perfect for my needs. I only use them for their touch pads on certain while on my couch. These games are typically strategy/deck builder games. Otherwise I use my FlyDigi Vader most games.

Yeah from reading around if you need the touch pad these are awesome and if not it's nothing special

Given the prices of Steam Machine PCs and shortages surrounding the first batch, the user will be lucky if he gets a replacement soon. Steam Machine looks good on paper, but unfortunately, its price is far from appealing, and you can get much better options for lower prices if you want to build a custom PC. Plus, the fact that SteamOS is getting supported across multiple PC platforms soon makes it even less of a reason to get the system now.
Wait SteamOS is coming out for general use?

As an old man I don't really want to deal with custom PCs much anymore. I don't mind tinkering with Linux and I enjoy it a lot most of the time. HOWEVER, when I want to play video games for an hour or two dicking around with Linux to get it working for 1.5 hours kills any desire I had to play the game then I just get irritated. This doesn't happen much these days as most games do work well enough with Linux. But Sekiro, for example, has a specific kind of gayness that makes it really hard to get it working with off the shelf Linux. It works perfectly on Steamdeck though.

This is why I wanted a SteamCube. Money is not really an issue to me these days (not trying to brag it just isn't my primary constraint right now) so replacing my old traditional PC I have been building and rebuilding for 16 years for something that "just works" is what I am going for. My daily driver computer is a Macbook now. As I am old and cranky it is hard to go back to a loud PC when mac is dead silent most of the time. I get why PC game nerds and streamers do weirdo shit like but their PC in another room of the house and wire it into the room their desk is in so they don't have to hear it. Sadly I do not have a spare room in the house for that!

Yeah steamos is general use but there's really no need to use it over any other Linux variant.

Is the sekiro thing just changing what proton version you use? 99% of my Linux problems have been that.

It isn't an issue for most games. Sekiro and a few others have some very specific weirdness that I could not get to work on any of the distros I have used.

just had an interesting experience. I tried to buy a few items from the 8bitdo store. My card got declined. An hour or so later, I ended up getting fraudulent charges. My bank caught it.

I guess I can’t say it came from there, but my wife and I reviewed all our recent purchases and the only new place we tried to buy from was there. Won’t make that mistake again.

edit: they spent like $600 on Claude stuff with Anthropic and other AI shit.

Weird. I bought directly from their site IDK, last year or something? I got two of these guys:

I guess get it off Amazon?

Maybe a temporary compromise? I dunno. The site acted weird for sure.
