I'm now at the point of just hoping this does better at the Box Office than the MK movie did. MK underperformed to the point it probably won't get a sequel.

But also, it's a question of how much of a real marketing push this will get.

October release would have saved it at the peak of the hype. Moving it to summer against some big movies killed it.

Would have done x2 at it's original planned release date.

This, MK, and that dumb Masters of the Universe movie are all dead IP's. These should never have gotten funded.

Nostalgia is the only driving factor to get people into seats these days. Young people don't go to the theater except to see horror movies.

Just a reminder that the biggest movie of last year (Minecraft) was a videogame movie: Domestic Box Office For 2025

A videogame that was heavily played, even foundational, to Millenials and Gen Z (both of whom are now bigger than Gen X and the remaining Boomers).

MK, Street Fighter, etc. were not foundational to Millenials and Gen Z.

Also the whole viral craze - if its not a meme or heavily nostalgia based, your movie is probably a failure now. Future marketing is going to be awful.

Maximilian gets his "lets go" and the guy next to Wong I think is Yipes but at first I thought it was Ross rofl? not 100% but if it is a fgc commentator.. holding a toliet paper, ain't no way its not an ultra soft reference.

I too love how bad it looks but man, that was the wimpiest sounding Hadoken to use for a trailer. Should have SFX over a heftier grunt with more oomph.

The recent MK release is a sequel? Not surprising it underperformed when the first one had a divided reception. Additionally, the franchise with a foundation on violence and sexuality have somehow injected “modern” morality that faggots like Z Zweischneid eat up, so the most recent release carried live support for a year? With it being part of the IP sale with WB cross your fingers that investing parties may want to make money again instead of push a message?
