Agree with the rest of these reviews tonight. Was a decent action/fight movie, with some parts that got me very hyped up and some that were just kinda 'eh' for me, but nothing crossed into bad or anywhere near bad. The only character I didn't really care for was M. Bison. My only real 'complaint' was that the middle parts were kinda scattered and hectic for my tastes.

Some of the jokes were funny to me, some did nothing for me. That's how it is with all comedic stuff. None of it came off as sjw/woke/etc. nonsense, and I actually chuckled at the Ken scene that fake wizard doofus mentioned.

I'd probably give it a solid 6.5/10 since I couldn't really decide between 6 and 7 (so I guess, exactly what 6.5 should be for).

Sounds like a bunch of the FGC crew make cameos/ are in it. Haven't caught it yet, but sounds like Justin,Yipes, and others show up.

The only character I didn't really care for was M. Bison.

I think the actor was fine, M. Bison needs someone with some acting chops, they were better off not hiring just some wrestler dude with a huge square chin and scary big but can't act his way out of a paper bag. By the end of the movie, I figured this is more like a M. Bison origin story almost, because he's barely just tapping into Psycho Power, he's just only now assembling the Four Heavenly Kings (since he recruits Sagat in the mid-credits scene). I mean, he's literally escaping at the end (albeit with a captured Akuma), so it's pretty clear he'll be back and more powerful in a sequel. The actor said as much in an interview, saying a sequel M. Bison would be "very changed".

I kind of blame the recent games (and some versions of the animated films) for making M. Bison a huge fucking brickhouse because in the original game he wasn't looking particularly impressive physically, he just had crazy powers with his psychic attacks. The games got him to look more and more jacked but I personally prefer a version of him that focuses more on the dictator character and the psycho powers, he has Balrog or Sagat for big muscles.

I loved Raul Julia's M. Bison, but I think this one was fine too (and even paid a small homage to Julia's tuesday line which was a nice touch). I liked how they even poked fun at his lack of muscles when he is raging at the beginning because milking all those big strong men in his machines isn't giving him enough muscles, like the dude is too good to go pump some iron.

Also, the threat level of M. Bison in this story is quickly overshadowed by Akuma, so I think a sequel can better focus on the Shadaloo syndicate spreading its influence outside of M. Bison's personal little city and M. Bison becoming more powerful.

Also, something I found pretty amusing..

The character of Joe, who is a nod to the original Street Fighter game where he was a non-playable character in the first World Warrior Tournament.. I got a feeling they were kind of making fun of the new Mortal Kombat movies with the character of Cole.

You go in to see this movie with Ryu, Ken, Blanka, Dhalsim, Zangief, Guile, Chun-Li, etc.... and Joe who (spoilers ahead)
not only comes out of nowhere for most people, but also wins the tournament by not fighting a single fight since every one of his opponents forfeits. And then he immediately fucking dies after he wins, again like Cole in MK2 who got a horrible death after being the main character of the first movie. Just something I wondered and found pretty funny if true.

I didn't really care that he wasn't some giant buff god, I think for me it was more that I just didn't care for the actor or the way they had him come off like some sort of weirdo creep loser with no charisma or anything that you'd expect from a 'lord' who had a whole army of loyal followers and whatever else (I don't know a ton of Street Fighter lore to know exactly how important in the world he's supposed to be in this movie/what he runs/etc.). I agree it felt like an origin story part and that the ending clearly sets up hopes/plans for sequel(s).

M. Bison can't be any worse than Raul Julia was.

Aside from that, I saw some review on this. One from the Guardian....

2 of 5 stars... I wonder what he was holding against the movie? Oh, here's one of his criticisms...

It’s all about keeping us pampered in those fond memories from our pubescent childhoods, including bits that bring back the way us preteen boys ogled the 16-bit version of hypersexualized Chun-Li. She’s played in the movie by the lively and commanding Callina Liang, who enters the frame thighs first and unfortunately plays the only character tasked with a gratuitous slow-motion shower scene.

OK, so one of his knocks... on a Street Fighter movie... Explicitly made for Street Fighter fans... Was a slow-motion Chun-Li shower scene...

I think this reviewer was possibly mad because his inability not to get an erection at that scene betrayed him to his genderfluid owlkin life partner?

Saw it tonight. Grading this on a 90’s comic/video game movie curve, this thing is like RotK theatrical. It’s decent enough.

I didn’t like some changes to Ryu’s backstory on why he disappeared after SF1 tourney. Didn’t like no Sagat, but I get what they did. Yeah, there’s some issues with Ken’s presentation. Didn’t care for Guile or Zangief not getting as much action but they only had 2 hours man.

7/10 for video game movies.

All this talk about most that were in the trailer, what about Cammy, Vega, Balrog? Were they just cameos? Cammy casting was dumb

Cammy has several scenes but she doesn't really fight, probably because that actress can't fight (she was the dumb vampire chick in Mortal Kombat and didn't fight there either, just did CGI stuff and died lamely).

Vega and Balrog have a bunch of scenes, and each gets an actual fight though like most fights they're not very long : Vega vs Chun Li and Balrog vs Ken (not really spoiling much, you knew Vega vs Chun Li was coming for sure).

While true the actress prob can't fight.. I don't think the character has anything noteworthy until "deeper" into the story, when she's breaking the whole doll's mind control.. Shes basically henchmen2 and the only beat she really had was breaking the prime minister persons neck under the control of shadaloo(sf2 animated movie).. so I guess its not really surprising if the whole setup is that she'll go against her "father" M.Bison sometime later. iirc Juli was in the promo, so I wouldn't be surprised if they do the whole doll liberation angle.

outside of that, the only thing I remember is her getting cuntpunched by c.viper

Haven't seen the movie yet, but I would imagine there is some loose ties to the story approach on what they will tell.

I'm just quoting cammy's existence in the greater street fighter lore not the 2026 movie, her outfit is from Alpha which implies she is a Doll.. They could take a ton of their own liberties with the story, none of which I know.. just that her supposedly having low presence/fight or w/e 2 or 3 post above "makes sense" given that her impact is very little in the beginning despite being in iconic Camo/Beret in Super Street Fighter 2(not SF2).. so I think the inclusion is basically SF Alpha('95) -> SF2 animated movie('94) which is where a lot story actually gets written out that is more/less understood today for the franchise. Prior, I think it was just a bunch of cool character designs influenced by stuff put into a game with random title cards for flavor.. Like Guile is basically just Polneraff and Rudol von Stroheim from Jojo's Bizarre Adventure.

That was pretty much the bulk of her lore til like SF4('09?).. she was just a 20/10 character design. None of which I can confirm or deny is in movie.. only thing I know is that the promo had her cheeks out in a onepiece and that is p.much a win atleast to recent hollywood standards. She could literally just be a throwaway/cameo since there are so many characters and essentially singular story lines that converge; none of it could make it to the film.
