So, I had no idea this was a thing at all but both of these remain on the top of my all time favorite RPG's, I absolutely loved them. They are releasing for PS5, Switch and surprisingly enough, Steam come March 2025. I'm so damn excited for this.

The legendary Konami JRPGs Suikoden I and Suikoden II have now been remastered in HD!

The Story of Suikoden I
A once renowned hero turns into a violent tyrant, and an empire falls into decline.
A Liberation Army is rising up in an act of rebellion against an oppressive rule.
One by one the 108 stars of Destiny gather to shape the course of history.

The Story of Suikoden II
Our story's hero and his friend Jowy are members of the Unicorn Youth Brigade, which participated in a drawn-out border dispute between the Highland Kingdom and the City-States of Jowston .
A few months earlier, a truce agreement was signed between the two forces, both of which were happy to see an end to the fighting.
However, hidden under the momentary peace the fires of a new war continued to smolder…

Been a long time since I had meant to play it…

It was a coin flip years ago in Best Buy, both 19.99$ this and WildArms… and WA won the toss - so now I suppose is the time… although i did love wild arms

I put this on my wish list in '22. Kept getting pushed back. Can't wait for it to release finally.

It's loosely based on the chinese classic Water Margin (litteraly Suikoden in japanese, though the japanese title of the game is Gensou Suikoden - Fantasy Water Margin). The novel follows a gathering of 108 outlaws that rebel against the government.

Next year, Lunar remaster and this.

While not new, one is classic and this I have never played so- should be fun!

Great games, S1 was the first RPG I played on ps1. The leveling system is very forgiving when you get new characters, you can get 20+ levels from 1 fight.

Grabbed it immediately. Spent a ton of time on this and FFs. Maybe they fixed the gate bug at the beginning of two?

These companies sure have gotten good at selling people things we already have.

...I say this as literally everything I've played in the last few months was a port or remake of something from the distant past (The Thing Remastered, FF7 Rebirth, Mario 3D All-Stars, Dragon Quest 7 3DS, MGS2 on Switch...)

The industry is really short on new ideas, which is why things like Elden Ring and BOTW go over like gangbusters.

Anyway, Suikoden 1 and 2 are two of the best (and most underrated) RPGs on the PS1. As a kid I used to think Suikoden 2 was the best of the two by far, but as an adult I find myself appreciating the first one more for whatever reason.

No way I can fit this into my schedule, but hopefully people have fun with it. I need to get back to Eiyuden Chronicles, got it as a birthday present a year ago and played like 5% of it before getting busy with other things. It's more or less a spiritual Suikoden 3 that follows the style of the first two.

It is good so far, only issue is battle speed increase also speeds up the music which is just lazy on their part. Nostalgia is strong with this one, the sound of party memebers joining hits right in the childhood.

1, and yeah they updated the character head shots. Still old school pixel characters but it looks like you remember it would instead of trying to go back to an old ps1 game.

While the game was beautiful and certainly had a lot more in the way of mobs, items, and what characters could do, the idea is not original. We can take the way back train and see its roots...

Loved me some Kings Field, I was obsessed when I was younger. Aren't the Souls games made by the same company?

Edit: oh you meant in terms of iterating as opposed to coming up with new ideas, I get it.
