Is the Nexus 10 worth it? I'm thinking about getting it for when I do cardio at the gym on the Elliptical so I'm not bored to tears and hopefully pass the time faster.
I have one and I love it. That said, there's really no way to put it down on a cardio machine in my gym - and I wouldn't want to hold it in my hands all the time.

Have you thought about audibooks? I got a whole bunch from audible.com (owned by Amazon) and they're pretty awesome.

My cellphone has started to develop liver spots. Been looking at tablets but my wife insists on me just getting a new phone. I'd like a 7 inch tablet for the amount of reading/browsing I do. I know there are a few 7 inch tablets with cell phone connectivity as an option. Anybody have any experience, suggestions, etc...? I'm considering just getting some shitty Nokia for 20 bucks for cell phone and getting a galaxy 10 for the reading/browsing at home if I can't find a best of both worlds solution. If not that, biting the bullet and going with a nexus 4 for smartphone but I hate reading/browsing on my current droid 2.

Thanks in advance.

The 'mini' tablet/phones are just too large for things like pockets and being held up to faces.

The only two I would suggest looking at are the Galaxy Note and the Nexus 4. The Nexus 4 is a regular phone but just feels a bit tablet like.

The Note reminds me ofhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/N-Gage_(device)where it just doesn't look right next to a face.

Kinda what I was afraid of. I want a bigger tablet for reading/browsing but a smaller one seems more practical for phone/picture taking when I'm out and about. Goddamnit.

Thanks guys. +1's

Rumor of a $99 Nexus 7 tablet gaining some foothold, I've seen this reported several places now over the last couple weeks

http://www.techspot.com/news/51149-g...-7-tablet.html

If it's the current 16GB Nexus 7 for $99, that would be huge, they'll dominate the 7" tablet market and it wont even be close. I'd have to imagine that it's going to be some scaled-back hardware though and not the current iteration of the Nexus 7, unless they're crazy enough to sell it at a huge loss in the hopes of driving everyone else out of the 7" market.
Whatever happened with this rumor? Anyone hearing anything?

nexus 7.7 is coming out at the may google i/o conference, 1080p retina style screen at a $299 price point. I don't keep up much with phones but I believe a new nexus phone is coming out then too, nexus 5 with 5" retina screen? By the time the devices are available in the mass market it'll be june or so. there is no new $99 tablet, but by end of the year nexus 7's will be in the $99 price point probably.

I've been having a lot of fun with my nexus 7, recently rooted it and hooked up a xbox 360 controller with SNES emu, try out MAME and others later. Fantastic eBook, audio, video, and browser on a great screen, only bad thing is 32gb (or 16) onboard with no SD card slot, but 99% of the time I'm just looking at stuff from my media server anyways. If you are on the go a lot the 32gb will not be great. Battery life is great so far compared to my last tablet, at least 8 hours (battery meter says 21 hours estimate) on a full charge and barely any power drain when hibernating overnight.

Ubuntu tablet ... all I ever wanted was 0 day exploits out for my nix tablet.

I hope I can compile a new kernel every week.

Something I'm really liking my Nexus 10 for that I didn't expect when I purchased was as a really nice comic book reader. I've never been much of a comic reader and I'm just reading through The Walking Dead -- any other recommendations? I know this probably isn't the appropriate thread to ask.

Y: the last Man & The Sandman top my "easy for non comic fans to like" list.
