This came into Early access.

Bunch of Tainted grail games. This one is a TES style first person RPG.
$30 AA price point is actually a bit suspect. I'm not sure how you do a skyrim like game at that price, and not be very unsatisfying.

Important information to consider before purchasing this game in Early Access:
> There is a possibility that your saved data may become corrupted due to large patches and version changes.
> This game does not aim to have AAA-level graphics or polish.
> You will encounter various bugs, balance issues, and a lack of final polish.
> This game is in a true Early Access phase, and we welcome your feedback so that we can improve the game together.
> Take advantage of the special price of $29 during Early Access, as the game will be more expensive later on.
> Currently, you have access to Chapter 1 (10-15h), more content will be added to the game for free!

Watching Tangent/cohh stream it on Twitch, it does LOOK good.

I'm sure there has been other threads since the search function was broken, but this hits 1.0 on May 23rd

From there on out, you can fully experience the game, finish the full main quest, and enjoy exploration of all 3 huge regions.
We estimate the game to take around 50-70 hours to complete (main quest + a selection of side quests), but if you want to see and collect everything… well, prepare for a bit more :D

A few most important highlights of the full version of the game:
  • Access to the FULL game! 3 huge regions to explore (Misty Horns of the South, Cuanacht bathed in sun, and snowy Forlorn Swords)
  • 50-70 hours of gameplay
  • Full, branching main story quest with hundreds of different endings
  • 200+ side quests
  • 250+ unique NPCs
  • 400+ unique weapons, including shields
  • 55+ unique spells + 14 soul cubes
  • 75+ dungeons
  • 100+ unique enemies, including variants

This releases tomorrow. the 23rd. streamers have been playing. they have early access.

Here's a couple reviews.

Watching Tangent stream on twitch. looks ok. indie budget really shows often. like, Oblivion remastered literally looks visual superior.

This game fucks. I've been completely captured by it all weekend. There is definitely a difficulty curve at first that was honestly refreshing. Nice to actually run up against a wall and have to level/gear up and come back. I'm getting close to finished with the first major area and I've already sunk 22 hours into it. Really hoping Bethesda takes some notes, but pretty sure they'll see this and go the opposite direction unfortunately.

How's the UI ? Made for PC or for console peasant ?
And is there any weight limit ?

UI feels fine for me on PC, the bits I’ve dicked around with controller also felt fine though sometimes it would stop letting me navigate left or right with the dpad until I moved up or down for whatever reason.

Inventory is weight limited only, but things aren’t insanely heavy. I think the heaviest weapons and armor I’ve picked up were around 5-6 pounds. Endurance increases raw weight capacity, strength decreases the weight of your armor, so you can double dip on weight management. Arrows, potions, and a lot of ingredients/components have zero weight. Ore, wood, etc are like 0.1 or 0.2 weight most of the time.

There are spears, I found one that inflicts bleed fairly early on, and it has been amazing duel wielding it with a short sword that has a special parrying effect. Dodge feels good and you pretty much have to use it on certain bosses that drain your stamina on parry. Haven’t fucked much with shields. Stealth archer is as potent as ever once you get a feel for archery and get some points in the tree. Archery is slow, stamina heavy, but hits like a truck if you are hitting weak points/headshots. I’ve got a thunder bow now that uses 15 mana on a full draw and hits with a lightning aoe on impact. Pretty much one taps everything from stealth that isn’t an ogre or a boss. Big ass stone guardian, put your weapon away and murder fuck it with your pick axe. Wood dryad, yeah a big chopping axe does way more damage. Little touches like that really making the game sing for me.

The game takes Skyrim and mostly improves upon it in every way. Everything will be familiar if you’ve played an Elder Scrolls game, lock picking is one for one with Skyrim.

The world is gritty and someone definitely likes H.R. Gigers art style. Creatures are refreshing and interesting, albeit the first area is very undead heavy. Some legit horror vibes, bring a torch, it gets dark as hell. The lewd book series they put in the game is hilarious.

Damn might have to pick this up. Is there any word on when the rest of the game will be ready? Is this like years away still for the rest?

As far as I’m aware this is there full 1.0 release, it’s all there unless they decide to do DLC later.

ha. yeah. the OP was back in march of 2023 for Early access.
then when the thread was bumped, it was for the Early access for launch, streamers/reviewers had.

Full release was the 21st, for everyone.

Here's mortismal's review. haven't watched it yet.

my thoughts from watching streams, and reviews: a bit pricey for an indie game. visually is a bit jank. not up to par with other modern games. even other indie's like enshrouded or solasta 2. Voice acting is a bit rough. people keep mentioning "first area", etc. which makes my wonder on the overall map design. "semi open world".

so im not leaping a throwing full price at it. honestly, still waiting for BG3, or elden ring sales... (elden ring has had big sales iirc, just didn't bite.)

it topped avowed all time peak on steamcharts. haha.

Is this game based on the board game(s) of the same name?
Yeah. They created a game around the same time they created the board game, it was somewhat similar to the board game, you wandered around a map and battled with card combos. Then they said something like “Hey this was our first foray into digital and while it was ok we realized we wanted to make a completely different kind of game.” and stopped developing the first one further, I don’t remember if they fully finished it or not. They also gave everyone who bought the first one this new elder scrolls style game for free. This new one is still set in the tainted grail world but the game mechanics aren’t related to the board game like their first video game tried to do.

So I didn’t realize that armor isn’t strictly light, medium, heavy based on what you are wearing but rather how much total weight it is. So with enough strength and reducing its weight via crafting, you can be wearing full plate and still be in the light armor category and get all the benefits from it. Just feels weird running around in death knight plate mail, but it’s leveling the light armor skill.

Played for about 8hrs, not bad. Def some Skyrim vibes, but thats not a bad thing. I like the skill up systems, I like the crafting... Some shit is janky but overall so far what I have seen its a 8/10 for what it is. Also whats nice is its all voice acted too. So you dont have to read reams of chats, just listen.
