checked my xbox xontroller. LB opens up the quick select wheel. I guess that is what you are describing already.

I guess you could hook a wireless keyboard to it and just use it for the loadout? Not ideal of course but the controller just doesn’t have enough buttons I guess.

If you have the DLC, maybe do it late in area 2. I did it right at be beginning of area 2 and it has so many OP items I was unchallenged in the late game.
