I played it some, and the newer remake of it. I forgot how it played but I was always disgusted by how like....legend of mana isn't a real overhead "attack all directions" style thing and is just a beat em up left and right attacker.

I dont remember how 3 was in that respect
3 is the direct sequel of secret of mana, legend was some spinoff. 3 is basically secret of mana but just expanded upon in terms of mechanics. Secret of mana was part 2 so it makes sense. 3 plays just like secret.

Played some of the demo of this game, it's the opening of the game which transfers if you buy it so if anyone is curious I'd advice just getting that. Seems decent, but added to wishlist to get on a sale. Since it is so new, I doubt it will get a discount for the summer sale, but for the winter sale it will probably be between 20-40% off. Price now is 75 dollars at the current exchange rate, so bit expensive for a 20-30 hour game.

I made a comment on a stream showing the game if it was possible to turn off/ lower frequency of the voice lines by the fairy thing. Was met with several «lol he already did lower those settings»

so there are apparently settings to reduce chatter, but it’s still noticable. But no «puzzle solving» comments though, like god of war which was very annoying.
This is a dealbreaker for me. Cannot buy solely because of that

I played through the demo and liked it enough to get it, haven’t started playing it yet though. Agree with the flaws pointed out, the helper just needs to stfu and the reduce chatter button only somewhat alleviates that.

I liked the gameplay enough though that it should be fun, but I don’t have high hopes on the overall story (or characters).

Here's morts review. pretty down on its sadly.

1. short. over priced for how short it is.
2. crashed a lot on him.
3. don't shut the hell up.
4. need to beat the game 4 times to get the real ending? hes a bit unclear on this.
5. repetition. same boss, and areas over and over.

1. Not necessarily a negative for me, but depends on just how short it is. If it’s ~15-20 hours (or more) I’d be fine with it.
2. Definitely a problem if it’s not patched and actually does crash a lot.
3. One of the worst “modern audience” features ever implemented. Can’t think of anyone that actually likes this shit.
4. I think it’s probably that there are 4 eras that you have to progress in, and from what I’ve gathered it’s a lot of exploring the same areas with minimal changes and the same enemy types.
5. From what I’ve read, it’s both bosses and normal enemies that are reused and there is definitely minimal enemy variety, which sucks.

Most of the reviews do seem to like the overall combat though, which is what I ultimately got it for. Just have to hope it doesn’t get too stale with the lack of enemy variety.
