Had a guy do this that I worked with, but with a huge pot of boiling water. Needless to say he broke his window, slipped and fell on the ice while doing it and got 2nd degree burns on his arms.

I'm really confused by the boiling water part. Warm tap water works fine. If you've got the time to boil water why not just warm up your vehicle?

Immigrant, pretty sure where he was from there wasn't a concept of ice. He figured water would melt it, so why wouldn't hot water melt it faster? At least from what I heard.

I learned better watching aliens 3 as a kid.
