I've looked a little online and haven't found any good answers, so I'll turn to you guys.

Playstation Vita & PS4.

Outside of being able to play PS4 games, how else will the Vita work with the PS4? I've heard that it might be a neat controller similar to how the Wii U has that tablet thing, but I haven't seen any concrete info on this.

Could you guys elaborate for me? (I'm trying to see if it's worth buying a Vita)

Yep, in between making sure my collar(s) are popped, doing Jaegar Bombs and Heineken, and slipping ruffies in the hot bitches drinks.
Sounds like my kind of night. Except for the Heineken. Coors light or shiner.

All I've seen is Remote Play functionality, similar to the PS3/PSP. Haven't seen anything that would make me want to buy a Vita just to use in tandem with a PS4.

I'd focus on the remote play and nothing else, it's definitely a handheld about managing expectations and even on PS3 they couldn't keep things like cross-controller (using Vita as a controller) cross-buy (buying for PS3 got you a Vita copy/version) and cross-play (have to buy 2 games, but saves sync into the cloud and you can play your saved game on either) going with any meaningful momentum. The most successful is cross-play, but then patches aren't distributed evenly and it breaks on one platform or the other for periods of time. Cross-buy seemed to be abandoned almost immediately and replaced with 'well hey, how about you pay $80 to get the 2 copies?'

Sony did suggest late last year that with cross-play your could port over all the fantastic Wii U titles to the PS3, that never happened so we're deprived of that rich and amazing third party library.

Basically between the Vita and the PSPGo Sony managed to get all of their really stupid and/or poorly supported ideas out of their system before the PS4 came along.

Just target a price you're willing to risk and try and get one for that price on Craigslist or something. Remote play has been mandated for every PS4 title.

I found a guy that'll sell me a Wifi version with a 32 gig memory card, 2 games and a case for a whopping $170. I'm jumping on that because it's the least expensive version I've seen. That said, I still want to know if it has more to offer than just playing PS4 games. I wish it had alternate abilities. Almost like an extra tablet for Watchdogs or something. That might just be wishful thinking though.

The picture linked looks like the logo from that old show "Heroes". Save the Cheerleader, save the world.

What kind of person has a slower network bandwidth than their internet connection? My network is 300Mb/s, my internet is 30Mb/s, and yes my PS3 does sit six inches underneath my router. In closing, shut the fuck up Quineloe, you're useless like always.

Very few people...but some. People who live in Fiber/Fios/europe (can)have these problems. My home connection is 600/130, so that means pretty much any wireless device is network limited, and any device that is 10/100 and not 10/100/1000 is capped(which is a lot more devices than people realize, though less and less common as time goes on).
Indeed - absolutely the case here - even before dropped packets.

please refrain from using facts with him, he thinks he actually has 300mbit/s because it says so on the box

Don't think that matters much outside certain areas of the country.

11/3 is a Sunday, though.
Lame - Saturday birthday for me this year, and would make it an odd release date for the industry. Although not impossible. But would really like seeing it have the possibility of being a BDay delivery. (Since Amazon for huge prereleases sometimes gets them there a day early)

The solar eclipse lasts for half a day or so, they could just as easily say, release it on 11/4 midnight Japanese time... just after the eclipse
