I don't own it - not claimed to - friend invited us all over for tabletop gaming, plus about 90m of KI while we ate.

And if it punishes single buttoning I certainly didn't feel it.

If you tried that style in VF you'd be lucky to land a hit much less perfect people. Even against newbies like I was facing. 'Punished' being slight diminishing returnsis a world of ddifference versus trivial countering vs repeated use.

Hell, P4A punishes pretty well too.

I went perfect 3 games in a row spamming Y I think - light punch - before people adapted and I was still winning MOSTLY spamming the same button.

Yes, it rewards one button play. (As do most fighters)
Um you can't button mash in the new Killer Instinct dude, at least not effectively. The entire system is designed around punishing blatant button mashing. Your story just seems like total bullshit anyway.

The new killer instinct makes you finish a combo ,or it doesn't award full damage.

You can not hang on one button. It would be such minimal damage that its effectively like hitting one fierce attack.

The game mechanics are some of the best I've seen since SF4.

You're entitled to your opinion. I was playing against shitty players, but still. Perhaps its just the feel of it and the timing having a lack of reactivity that I dislike. I did play vs CPU some as well and felt very unsatisfied.

It was better than Mortal Kombat, but that really isn't setting a high bar.

It probably doesn't help that I hated KI1 back in the arcade days too though. Previous bias and all.

But to me with my couple years of martial arts, defense not really being an option in most fighters is a huge turnoff.

Ya his story is all over the place. First he played KI against other players and not only won, but flawlessly won perfect rounds only hitting the y button. Which proves that KI sucks and is a haven for mindless button mashing. When proven wrong he turns it into a tirade against the figher genre in general, why he doesn't like it and why he is biased against KI in the first place.

Just say you don't like KI because you like PSBore, it's cool Vaclav, you don't have to make up stories about KI and look foolish to those of us who actually own it and play it all the time.

VF is garbage. It's slow, clunky, retarded garbage. I doubt it'd even make a Top 10 list of best fighters of all time. I'd imagine even Dead or Alive has a larger following than VF.

Heh, watch Tucos video and it is clear that my impression was accurate, he's quoting a 33-50% chance of breaking a combo mashing. And 'attacking to break a combo' isn't defensive play comparable to VF.

VF is tactical, the speed is part of the glory of the game. Watch MMA or something sometime and tell me which is closer to fighting for real - VF or KI - no one could say KI with a straight face.

And woah... A game last published about a decade ago is less popular than a title within 2 years? STOP THE PRESSES...

Back when arcades were still a thing it was solidly in the #3 spot for arcade fighters around my stomping grounds. SF and MK exceeding it (and MvC towards the end of arcades)

Breaking a combo is 100% in KI. Its based off the strength of attack they are using.

There are no unblockable attacks in KI outside of throws that can be teched...

The game is based off every old fighting game. There are low, mid, and overhead attacks. All can be blocked by standing or crouching.

I remember in the original KI (SNES version), if you played Cinder you could just do his flying attack and if you caught the other player they could never recover from your infinite damage if you kept spamming it. Therefore, the new KI is sucky ass shit.

The 33-50% shit is straight from the producer talking about if you're buttonmashing blindly because you don't know what the response to an attack is you're going to be right 1 in 3 or 2.

Derp! dunno what I'm doing so I'll hit Y over and over and half to a third of stuff will be countered. Talent.

Versus having to know specific counters and having unblockables to punish turtling. (Wasn't aware of no UBs and their disclusion is bad IMO)
