So I understand the focus on TV was a let down for some. But can someone please fucken explain to me what the PS 4 can do that the Xbone can't?
Oh thats right, fucken nothing. The only thing that will seperate the two machines is exclusives.
PS4, confirmed to not require an always on connection.
Whereas, the X-onedirection (press conference seemed marketed for teens) this is what we know.
Kotaku: If I'm playing a single player game, do I have to be online at least once per hour or something like that? Or can I go weeks and weeks?
Harrison: I believe it's 24 hours.
Kotaku: I'd have to connect online once every day.
Harrison: Correct.
So the system is built to work even if your Internet connection goes down, but you still have to be connected at least once a day to use it, according to Harrison. We're not sure exactly what would happen if you don't connect once per day-and that timeframe could change-but this doesn't sound good for anyone who was hoping to use Xbox One without an Internet connection.
Update: Sounds like things are a mess over at Microsoft. Now they're telling Polygon that Harrison's comments illustrate a "potential scenario."
"While Phil [Harrison] discussed many potential scenarios around games on Xbox One, today we have only confirmed that we designed Xbox One to enable our customers to trade in and resell games at retail," a Microsoft rep said. "There have been reports of a specific time period - those were discussions of potential scenarios, but we have not confirmed any details today, nor will we be."
I'll get the console I can use when I want, even if other things go wrong (internet goes out, or I am on vacation without internet (christmas, easter, etc

.
I am guessing most of us are adults with the purchasing power to get all the consoles. As you stated, the games will make the difference. So far, the focus of the X-box is to market features not related to games, and that will most likely not work properly anywhere but in the US.
Scenario - Christmas is coming along with it the holiday release season. A triple-A epic RPG is released by a third party publisher on both consoles, they look identical on both. However, I am going on vacation, with the ability to bring along a console. Who gets the software sale? Obviously the console I can actually use.
So, as for things we know the PS4 can do that the X-one can't. Play games constantly without an internet connection..... That this is even an issue boggles the mind, but it is certainly big enough to put one them ahead in my mind as a "pirmary" console.
Edit: and should note that it is an issue considering that once you start buying games for a certain console. You gain achievements, build up your "account" with levels, and there are often ties to sequels and the like.
Guessing most of us have a PS3 and a X-360, but also guessing that when you buy a game that is shared between them, you buy them for your "primary" console. So, if I start buying games for the PS4 for whatever reason, odds are I'll end up getting every shared game for that, while only the exclusives for the X-one. This is what has happened with the PS3 and X-360 generation for me. Only ever buy exclusives for the 360, everything else, I buy for the PS3. Simply because in the beginning it was cheaper and often faster to get it for the PS3 due to region free drives and the ability to import games.
As for the whole, everyone has a 360 argument. I know one person with one other than me. However, nearly everyone I know has a PS3. The US is not the world. If MS thinks so, it will come to bite them in the ass.
