I'm not against XB1, i think it will be a really good system for some people, and have some good games. I don't like that they tried to integrate it with TV, that is what concerns me the most.
I am a TiVo Whore, i love my tivo (all 3 of them) and if i were to ever get an xb1, i'd want to use it to it's full potential of having the TV going through it as well, but i will not and do not want to lose the functionality of my TiVo and i do not think that the XB1 will be able to do that. I have no cable boxes, i use cable cards so there is no option to output from a cable box to the XB1. If the XB1 integrated Cable Cards and a much larger HDD and had a really good DVR interface to make me stop using my TiVo then i'd consider it. For now though, the HDD on the XB1 will fill up way to fast if you try to DVR and install games on it.

Xbone works with TiVo so I think you might be confused about how it works. The Xbone is basically just an HDMI pass-through, your recorded shows don't get saved to the console or anything like that.

Yea, but for the "talking" functionality to work you need a cable box and such, otherwise you can't do stuff like "Xbox, watch HBO". Because the content is not coming off a cable box and the xb1 will have no idea what the channels are. Guess i'll have to wait and read some forums about it after it comes out.
But i'd like to be able to do "xbox, watch Star Trek from TiVo" without picking up my TiVo remote. Who watches live TV anymore. So not sure how the XB1 will even integrate with cable box DVR's.... will it be able to pull up a show that's been DVR'd on a cable box dvr, or will you just be able to watch live TV?

Yeah I think eventually it will do all it advertises. It's concepts aren't hard it just needs to finalize some stuff and fix some bugs but they had to risk a launch right now or get so behind Sony they would never recover.
On the flip side, they have been trying to do voice command for 5 years and it's still like using a remote controller with croaking batteries.

PS4 came yesterday.. I spent a solid 20mins checking the HDMI port and making sure the drive was plugged in properly. Thankfully mine seemed to start up okay, then I replaced the drive with a HGST 7200rpm 1TB and it was pretty smooth sailing after that. I found that the PSN network speed for downloading was all over the place though, I have a 150mbit connection and the PSN network speed was going from 50kb/s to 15MB/s and back down again like a yoyo. Played some Resogun, Flower and NFS Rivals, downloaded them all from the PSN store. I also gave netflix a try and it seems to stream at a higher quality then the browser playback does for me, so that's a plus I guess.

I'm not sure if anyone else picked up the Playstation Camera, but some perverted fuck designed the playroom. To get the robot to come and hang out with basically requires you to jerk off the remote until he explodes out of it. Same thing for initially getting all those little robots that run around. The playroom is really light on content though, I really thought there would be more to it in terms of what you could with the things you're interacting with but it was honestly pretty limited. I'm not sure if that was an issue with my setup but I was pretty disappointed with it. (Though to be honest it wasn't really a selling point at all for me) Air hockey was pretty cool though, but really didn't require the camera.

Edit: I also find the front facing USB ports are pretty inaccessible unless what you're plugging in is very slim. Not a huge deal, but I had to use a USB extension cable to plug in my USB key to finish the restore after swapping out the drive.
My kids love the Playroom using the PlayStation camera. They instantly picked up on the idea even though they are only 1 and 3 years old and were jumping over the furniture and falling all over themselves to *smack* the little things on the tv screen where they thought they were sitting on the furniture.

The one thing that does irk me about the Playroom is that it wants you to put it 20 inches above the floor. Just Dance want's it above the TV. There doesn't seem to be a setting in either for a default height so I don't have to keep moving it when I switch games for the kids.

Open at 12AM, And the fuck if Im standing outside in a line after gorging myself full of turkey and fixins. So I guess my kids will be bummed that they dont get a PS4 for xmas.

Guess I was wrong. I assumed that anyone who tried to get one the day after launch could probably find one in stores if they tried diligently. It's looking like it may actually be sold out for Christmas. Those of you who bought two may just turn a tidy profit on ebay next month.

Neat, so my guess for shipment #2 is confirmed accurate? Go me...

Wonder how off I'll be on Shipment #3 being the week of Dec 12.

I have to say it is getting better though.
Well the IGN video that was linked earlier in the thread showed anything but that it's getting better. Was still like 30-40% failure rate, which is about 10times more than what I'd consider acceptable. And he was in a small room alone without apparently no other noise.

Reviews state there isn't any latency or image quality issues. They also say the voice commands and Xbox TV guide are improvements over other guides. You only need the remote to view recorded content, which is something they're apparently working on.

Also, the best part of all the reviews, is that they also all state that the Xbox One is a capable gaming console all of this other shit notwithstanding. Not only is it a capable gaming console it has a better launch lineup than the PS4.
Using ir there is latency.

From what i read online yesterday sony is doing this shit on purpose not to overstock stores and to keep the hype meter on high. supposedly they have enough units made, they just are not supplying them, the bastards.

PS4 will be in this holiday - GameSpot
That's nonsense. They're not shipping them out as they make them, sure, but they're not "holding them back" to build hype either. They ship stuff out in waves, it would cost a fuckload of money to ship stuff constantly.

Unless you're referring to Europe's stock, which they do have held and are building up for their release on the 29th. There's probably 1 million+ units there.

The notion that people hold back and don't sell hardware to build hype is nonsense. That is not at all what he said they are doing.

House never once says that in the interview:https://www.gameinformer.com/b/news/...-holiday-.aspx

GI says something to that effect, but House does not. He talks about supplying all the regions that they need to and mentions getting enough supply out there for the holidays. His entire thing is more about referencing logistics.

Stop being fucking dense. What the fuck do you think this means?

Sony is also walking the inventory tightrope, trying to make sure that there is enough product in stores for walk-ins throughout the season, but not so much that it creates a perception problem.

It means you can't hype a product as popular if a shit load of them are sitting on shelves. That's why he said perception.

IR Blaster is the reason I'll never try the control features when I get an Xbone (I'm resigned to the fact that being such a tech freak I'll get one eventually once some "must have" exclusive hits that I want) - IR Blasters really are about the worst shit ever. Would use my Harmony remote every day of the week over micromanaging an IR blaster in six different locations to control everything. (Plus one or two are Bluetooth, will those even work with XBone?)
