only 1 episode left and this place is dead just shows how shit this is. This fucking sucks.

the show runner pussies couldn’t make us hate the characters they wanted us to so the best they could do is take their ball home and make it boring as everything they tried backfired

I was so happy to see a main cast death. God I wish we could watch homelander eviscerate every last one of them. Especially Hughey. I hate all those assholes but him extra especially!

Only thing that could possibly save the season at this point is hughie starting his 900th "We can't do this guyz, we're better than this guys..." speech and homelander suddenly appearing behind him:

I'm kinda excited for the prequel, already know Jensen can hold the show and Bombsight or whatever should be able to play off him it seems. Going to be a lot of shit talking I'm figuring, power wise soldier boy already bested him but he had pretty much given up mentally in that fight.

I really don't know how they can do any justice to the show in just 1 hour.

It's way past being too late.

For me, this has approached GoT season 8 territory.

Everything up until the final episode of season 3 was at least solid and oftentimes good or great.

I was fine with the general idea of where the show was going, especially with homelander, but they never gave anything enough gravity and constantly repeated the same loops for characters and plot. It's hard to believe this is the final season and there's only one episode left with how little genuine buildup and tension they've created. Why is the second to last episode featuring a dog and cat supe fight? Sigh.

Just look at butcher. He goes through all that stuff in season 4 and you think he's going to be truly barbaric but he's basically the same he always was.

Soldier boy is played brilliantly but they made his character a flip-flopping idiot just to end up on ice again.

They gave up all attempts at trying to keep actual power differences between characters so now every fight is just determined solely by plot armor. I remember when Black Noir hunted down butcher in, I think, season 2... That felt more tense than any situation in the last two seasons.

There's an occasional laugh and the actors are generally good but it's just so unfortunate that this is how this ends. Zero chance I will watch any spin-off.

I think the homelander issue has more to do with all the boys being so unliked that you by default have to side with homelander.

The comically evil persona they try to attach to homelander is just too stupid to have any weight. He has no comparison to actually well played evil antagonists like voldemort or goeffry or that evil little potato face from last of us.

He's comic book evil like joker or lex luthor but still has more style and presence than any of the assholes he's up against. Making him full on Maga 2nd coming is just an addition to his fan base.

Homelander is an ego narcissist in the comics and the show. Given one is in the White House, comparisons are inevitable even if the show writers didn’t fully lampoon RL stuff

They mostly diverged on everything else. The “clone” plot from the comics was always lame, so no issue dropping that, and they also dropped a lot of the edgelord shit from the comics (like Homelander sodomizing Soldier Boy, which is why they made a joke referring to it this season when he gets uniced and asks Homelander if he did that). They definitely have flip flopped on Butcher - comics Butcher basically is a villain unto himself. Show Butcher they have flirted with it, but they always pull him back.

It feels like they’re mostly going for a less bleak ending than the comics and more of a “all the people we say are bad get their due”

I like how they bitch about this season being so hard to wrap it up but there is filler everywhere. Black noir they just abandon that character

It's pretty clear once they decided to diverge from the comics they weren't so hot at coming up with better storyline. A pretty classic problem "adaptation" series.

The whole "Butcher has an evil brain worm" thing into "nah, he's just Butcher still. But with powers. But different powers from when he had powers." was just so dumb. It looked like the others would really have to decide whether to side with on Evil to fight another, but they just keep softening him up this season so he's clearly the "lesser" evil. Also Starlight and MM were supposed to be hopeful moral beacons and they just went "eh, too hard. Fuck it." Hughie they're obviously trying to toughen up to get him ready to kill whoever he's killing. Kimiko the first few episodes when she talked was dreadful. They explained it away with her learning to speak from TikTok and Reality TV, but it was still the shitty dick/poop/fuck humor of the show just in verbal form instead of visual form. She did seem better the last few episodes.

Homelander is legitimately insane. God complex and delusions of grandeur beyond his capability. He's a great villain with that feeling of tension in EVERY single scene of "oh is the other person going to die?" That's the actual good writing. Whenever some one talks to him, even yesmanning him, you're like "oh they're dead!" Sometimes they are! That's the only good writing.

The Hughie righteous softy shit is so weak. He just sucks when he stops everyone from doing something meaningful because it's morally grey. It's like Batman's don't kill code but way worse.

For a second to last episode, it was more butt sniffing than it was any real building of drama. Soldier Boy conveniently on Ice in Homelanders base? Kimiko MAYBE has new powers? Frenchie, the human who can't make a virus strong enough to kill Homelander is dead? Milk is.. who knows or cares? Starlight helped some people and changed their minds on her? Wowwee!

Last episode is probably like they say fuck it, test Kimiko directly against Homelander, it doesn't work, Ryan shows up, gets his ass beat, but reveals he freed Soldier Boy, who blasts everyone making them all human. Butcher dies anyways to some bullshit. Hughie, after becoming TUFFER, beats Homelander 1v1 and kills him. Kimiko's powers render everyone nearby permanently non-super.

They world goes back to how it was and Stan runs Vought as a Marvel company again. Big baddie out and business as usual.

You're probably right, but I could see Stan saying "fuck supes" and deciding to stop that program permanently. When you think about it, he could probably make more money selling anti-supe stuff or anti-supe protection or whatever given what is happening right now. Could even engineer a milder form of the virus that doesn't kill the supes, but severely weakens them to the point that they're vulnerable/not as big a threat.

Well, I think the virus will be essentially to no effect because of the stupid boys Mexico spinoff they have in preproduction.

It just fucking kills me that it didn't occur to them to finish the main show off in a strong fashion before they start thinking about how they can rake in even more money. Echoes of D&D looking towards Star wars.

They made a show that actually worked by subverting expectations and then turned it into just another cinematic universe. I don't know if they even see the irony of it.

That happens anytime there is a tentpole TV show - you milk the cow until it is dry

Walking Dead gets a bazillion spin offs. Game of Thrones. I mean hell, even Big Bang Theory.
