If you just ignore the fat black female MI6 agent doing things that it's completely impossible for her to do (at one point she runs down an athletic man in the street, for example), the show is pretty good. The main character is also inexplicably gay for absolutely no plot reason, and it's not explained.

In the Bruce Willis movie he played at being gay to get in someone's house, and I don't recall if he actually went for it or not but in this series he does.

Reading people's responses to this nightmare, this is probably appropriate.

Also that sounds pretty faggy and highlights the reason that scene of Willis eating Chinese take out is probably still the best scene in the entire movie.

That, surprisingly, is actually from the book - he isn't really, just sees it as a way of getting untraceable accommodations after the police start closing in. The show muddies it up a bit given they try to show him being remorseful about things he does for some reason.

Minor nitpick on that front too
How does a secret disguise makeup room in his house work ? He has to wait until his wife is not home every time he puts a disguise on so she doesn't see him walk out ? This might make sense if it was his house and she moved in, but for some reason they go with him having secretly?! added it to the house during renovations
I interpreted it as his secret storage area for disguises and weapons.

Finally finished this the other night. Pretty good. Was I supposed to be rooting for the assassin?

In the show it seemed like the security guy was not quite sure if it was going that way and the Jackal advanced the homo ball. Like he could have played it coy and not gone all the way immediately but it seemed like he wanted to in the show. Book wasn't like that I assume?

is it seriously entertaining though, it looks shitty but i'm so far behind on my spy genre i've got a million other things to watch first - Lioness, Night Agent, Recruit, The Agency, Jack Ryan, Black Doves, on and on

I liked it if you ignore the completely unnecessary homo shit and the black actress. Otherwise it was pretty good. A couple of cringe technical things but thats normal for any show. It's watchable.
