I don't like how naive the Ambassador is. She is a child out there and blames her husband for his real politik.

It is a bit of a stretch, even though they try to explain it with her previous experience as a CIA station chief? You'd think she would understand the grey. At least they're bringing her around.

It's a good day, Diplomat is back. All 8 episodes.

Wish it were like 20.

Saw the end of the first episode coming from a mile away. Didn't want to leave that in the clear in case anyone's super oblivious and doesn't see something coming.

Finished it this evening. General impressions with no story spoilers, but will spoil it anyways as it just came out today.

Not quite as impactful of a finale as past seasons I thought, we'll see how far down the rabbit hole things go as the latest plot twists and turns unravel. Thought this season had a full episode or two too much rom-com style disagreements, but it was more or less paid off later. Ultimately didn't enjoy that being more of a throughline in the stories this season compared to what I remember of the priors.

My least favorite of the 3 seasons, but still very good. Really wonder how far they'll go with things, hard to see a nuclear attack or something ever actually happening. They just had a better story to tell and more meaningful beats in the prior season.

Women making bad, emotional decisions, fucking everything that moves, and progressively trying to unfuck all of the situations created by their emotional decisions. Repeat every season forever.

Well I really liked this show, hell I think I started this thread but they seem to have lost the plot this season. Not exactly sure what but instead of wanting more I found myself FF in episode 3 and when it was apparent they same stupid shit was going to happen in episode 4, I just deleted it all.

Like all shows, the have this great idea for S1 and have no idea if it will get renewed. When it hits and gets renewed they struggle to keep the quality of the writing going. The Wire is one of the few shows that really stayed top shelf start to finish (and it even had some weaker spots during the run).

edit: This season was ok, nothing spectacular. Some plot points just dragged (like CIA chick getting fired. it was obvious she wasn't going to get canned so the faux-suspense over it was bad). Bright spot was Bradley Whitford. Dude always elevates any scene he is in on any show. The scene with the oysters and his hand might have been the best part of the season.

I am surprised by the lukewarm reception of this season. I guess the mix is slightly different, with almost no cloak and dagger anymore, so if it's the aspect you enjoyed the most about the show, maybe you feel let down. Personally, I love negotiations and verbal jousting and it's basically just that wall to wall, be it in the war room or the bedroom. In this niche, off the top of my head, I can't think of something better since The West Wing.

Which is interesting to say given two of the actors were on West Wing. In fact I found it really interesting that the two actors played a married couple in this show. I loved Bradley Whitford's Josh Lyman in West Wing, so it was kind of nice to see the actor come back in this show.
