huh interesting to hear you guys don't hate it, i read the book this summer and thought it was dog shit. lost complete interest in the movie, felt less like a fun post apoc story and more a shitty rom-drama

I just got done watching it. It starts out okay, and then just goes off the rails. I wonder how much was left on The cutting room floor.

The crazy thing is I would have never even thought it was a Ridley Scott movie had his name not been plastered over the credits. Maybe he just showed up occasionally and some random second unit directors did the grunt work? It was weird, but it didn't have any of his signature movie making style, and even though he's made some pretty bad films recently, you can still tell they're one of his films

It's like he was trying to do a versy of Danny Boyles Doomsday, except it was trying to be more serious and not realizing what it was. Not that doomsday is an amazing movie but it was Boyles homage to classic apocalyptic movies like escape from New York and the road warrior. It at least knew what it was and played the hand well even if it wasn't dealt decent cards. I can say that movie was at least fun, and this was definitely more of a slog.

I think I might have to go rewatch Doomsday now.

Scott has been directing from his trailer for a while now. AD's do all the work.

I thought it was really good, really enjoyed it. It isn't ground breaking but just a very good movie. Soundtrack was also great. I've been listening to a lot similar stuff on Spotify recently so it really hit that current mood nerve. It could almost be a Warren Ellis / Cave type thing.

I will say that the only just minor nit pick would be the extreme convenience of him crashing and wandering up to the two nicest people left on earth and one of the 2 happens to be a hot chick. Talk about lucky![/spoiler[
She gets nekkid in The Substance if I recall.

I saw her and kept wondering where I'd seen her. She's Andie Macdowell's kid. Almost exact same mannerisms.

Was a body double-- shes flat as a plank front and back, and her legs are twigs.

I'd like to know who's legs the double was, for research purposes. Rare to be that shapely and toned. There were only a few fitness models in the 80's at that height.

I'll see a stripper every so often in Florida that has that wow factor, but its very rare.
