I watched this last night and it was passable. Nothing really good but didn’t find anything really bad either, just a totally average movie that didn’t evoke any emotions.

I’m pretty sure I’ll forget about it in a few days.

I wouldnt rate this movie a 0 like someone else did. Just like Val just said, its average. It doesnt have a bunch of woke shit in it, and that should count for something from Netflix. I had no idea that was Mackie's voice doing Herman. I thought it was some mexican dude tbh. I guess from the adoption standpoint, making Millie look like trailer trash fits.

If I had to guess what happened to make this movie so middle of the road - You have some real big names like Woody as part of the cast, and yet the Russo brothers were the main directors? I would guess that the script was pulled all over the place, cut here, added there, cut there, back and forth over and over again. The actual actors like Millie and Chris? Theyre just good fucking actors - so I cant imagine them ever making something look bad. Millie doesnt look like a fucking teenager anymore, though. I agree on that.

Lastly, with that director thing in question - I dont think it really lands on an actual audience either. There is so much shit in the movie that I thought "Ok, this is really supposed to be a kids movie" and then the theme, or language or similar pops out and completely takes the legs out from underneath that theory.

Zero rewatch-ability though.

Thanks, I'll probably end up sitting down watching it with the wife.

I will also say that Chris Pratt isn't an actor, he's a movie star. He's Chris Pratt in every goddamn movie he does. That's not to say that there aren't a ton of them out there doing the same thing, but there's definitely a difference between somebody who takes on a completely and utterly different persona for a film, and it's noticeable.

I guess of the newer crop of actors, Pattinson is probably up there. He can do a complete transformation, and I guess that's why I watch a lot of his movies because he's good at the craft.

Typical Netflix movie: it has an awesome concept but the execution is mid. Like that Will Smith movie with orcs and elves in the modern day like Shadowrun

Man, did "Bright" let me the fuck down. In theory, that movie had all the shit to make it a fucking FANTASTIC movie. Too bad it wasnt anywhere near fucking awesome. They should have gave that script to Del Toro. He would have fucking Hell Boy, Pan's Labyrinth'd the fuck out of it and made it awesome.

The Shadowrun reference is spot on; it's EXACTLY what I was hoping they'd go for with Bright. Ah, well.

Bright would have been 2x as successful if they had gotten any no name actor instead of Will Smith. He ruined the vibe of the movie and I'm sure he cost way too much. Also, the crowd that will see any Will Smith movie is the opposite of the crowd they needed for it to be a smash hit.

I get where you're going with it. Cause the left is all "yayy lets free gang members to pick strawberries" or whatever fucking nonsense theyre pushing for. But its in the literal sense in this case, because robots will and do, in fact, pick our strawberries and clean our houses. If they gained sentience, I would struggle to care tbh.. and I think thats more where that thought-theory belongs.

Other than that, a lot of stuff has came out about Electric State - especially the book, which I knew nothing about since even this journalist explains it is a niche book for most people - is a lot more darker than the movie. They even go on to point out the same complaints about the movie that I had. The movie just lacks an audience, plain and simple. Who is this even made for kind of thing.

Had I known that this movie was supposed to have a more eerie feeling like Last of Us.. or be more reminiscent of Tales from the Loop or whatever - I would have been a lot more harsh in my opening criticism of the movie. Its still a mediocre to average movie, but .. like everything Ive watched lately - I continue to keep thinking in my opinions on each movie that "This could have been a lot better IF...." Which fuck man. Im just a movie watcher. I shouldnt be able to place my finger on the exact thing thats wrong with every single movie like Im some fucking professional with this shit. Like these problems should be clearly visible to the people that actually fucking matter. Like what is happening with these studios? Cant even say its Hollywood anymore cause half this shit isnt even there anymore.

I don't like how they're inserting emotions into appliances and making an allegory that illegal aliens are poorly treated by capitalists. No sir. I'm not even going to give this false narrative a millisecond of thought.glad you got some deeper meaning out of it. I'll continue to keep illegals out and my toaster making my toast.

Whether you found politics in it or an agenda or nothing at all it's doesn't change the fact this movie fucking sucked.

Bobby Brown is the oldest teenager I've ever seen and apparently Pratt is just accepting anything since Marvel is in the shitter.

Either blowing money somewhere, or trying to save up and cash out of the biz entirely soon. I'm getting hit with damn bible verse apps commercials with him in it.

That's pretty sad, if true. Dude was the last movie star. I don't even know if there is a chick movie star anymore.
