Finished this, and I'm quite frustrated by the poorly executed production of what is otherwise interesting source material. This should have been made by the duo behind the DARK series on Netflix. Netflix has already renewed it for a second season.
The first two episodes intentionally feature a slower buildup and are crafted to initially mislead the viewer into thinking they’re witnessing a natural or environmental disaster. It’s only in episodes 3 and beyond that the story fully pivots into science fiction territory, revealing the manipulation behind the snowfall and introducing more overtly surreal and supernatural elements. When meteor-like showers start to hit, it's time for the 'first wave.' You might also think you get a brief glimpse of 'THEM' later on (really freaky stuff). The main lead also experiences what he believes are visions. A crucial clue is hidden in the title of the series.
As I already said, this could have been amazing, but it got screwed up by a weak production team. I think they had a $15M budget, and apparently, they needed more, because it feels like they had to cut a lot of corners. It felt very uneven and sometimes downright boring—how that’s even possible with source material like this is beyond me.
