I wasn't expecting this IP, at all, but I am cautiously optimistic about this.

Also, Owlcat is definitely a woke company -- they just haven't been as in-your-face as many others have been.

I never really was offput by anything too crazy woke. The black ork paladin chick is kinda cringe and the cuck dwarf is pretty weird.

Just all the bad writing bothers me. I tried to read a couple of the quest essays but I just gave up. Not sure what's going on story wise. I just go to my quest pointer and kill shit and skip all the dialog.

Ok I guess the problem isn't the writing so much as the fact that you're a misbegotten zoomer retard with the attention span of a mayfly.

A cover shooter? Is this 2008?

I have to be honest, I'm not all that excited by this reveal.
I care a lot less about combat than I do other systems and, most importantly, the narrative.

The combat in The Witcher and Mass Effect was dogwater but both of those games were/are amazing.

If they can nail character progression and writing, I can accept middling combat.

That's really it though. What narrative? The story has already been told, essentially. I'm not really interested in an "alternate timeline" of The Expanse. I've watched the show, read the books, etc.

The novelty with the narrative just isn't there for me. So, all I really have is the combat/gameplay and it looks very rehashed by what was shown so far.

Certainly the surprise of E3.... 's corpse to me.

Not sure what it is with sci-fi games where "Fuck it, I'll do it myself" (Starfield to Outer Worlds, Mass Effect to this) is the predominant theme, but I'm cool with it.

Not sure about the 'alternate history?' angle of it - I thought the protomolecule gates connected hundreds of planets, seems like infinite freedom to plot your own material.

Pretty sure this will end up being a better Mass Effect game than whatever Bioware will put out at this point. I'm in.

This one is in the sure why not category. If people like it I'm willing to try. It's definitely a good setting for a game, imo. Can't say I'm pumped or anything though.

I like the space barrel rolls. I think I heard Slippy in the background

I hope they do true expanse ships with more zero g like the books...and less gay mag boots like what the show did.

And make the belters look like freaks

The autistic part of me isn't going to be able to play this if it doesnt advance the setting. I just don't have a lot of interest in parallel stories where we know the outcome and consequences to the universe by the original characters? And yeah, there's 1300 colony worlds by the time of Leviathan Falls in the book series.

1300 systems and we are going back to Sol which is the center of all the books and the TV series? It just doesnt sound like something I can get into.

Edit: I take this partially back. One example is 2nd / 3rd edition Forgotten Realms is my favorite, and I dont bother with 4E / 5E timeline and the future eras because I think they suck (we need cataclysmic world changing events for every edition guys, and to alter the entire cosmology to fit the rule changes! Yeah. No.)

Actually I mostly liked the way they reorganized the world/planes in 4E. Granted I'd stopped playing DnD well before 4E came out and never actually got to play any 4E, but I'd love the chance to play the Scales of War adventure path from Dungeon magazine adapted to like the WotR engine or something.

Mag boots were in the books - they made it a point to mention that outside of belters who were used to zero G environments and could maneuver like pros, Mars/Earth people tended to struggle more and really needed the boots

Plus the ships usually weren't under zero g unless they were no longer under active thrust, which didn't happen much unless they were loitering in a location and weren't traveling anywhere in a hurry
