Sadre Spinegnawer Sadre Spinegnawer Would know too as we both got our watches awarded to us at the same time.

The story goes that times were rough, very rough. Down was up and up was down, it was the fall of the tech boom and yahoo was falling under 347 points. There I am knuckle deep, replacing the left lung of a child that was in a freak accident of freeze-tag on his school grounds.

All around me I had sounds of children screaming in joy and pain. Half of them had no idea what had happened.. the other half just enjoying the day. The other, other half saw what we had to fix... it was pure chaos. Thank the gods that Sadre and I were there that day....

The only luxury watch brand I have ever been interested in is Ulysse Nardin, but it would still take FU levels of money to get me to actually buy one. As has been mentioned, there are simply other things that I enjoy more to spend my money on. Besides, I seem to smack my ring on everything those rare times I wear it, I am sure a watch would fair no better.

TRY to imagine the situation with us saving this childs life on the WaCkY bridge of the plaground... I would say its like landing on the Moon or James Cambron going to that deep part of the ocean, but worse. MUCH worse.

Sadre looks at me and says "Even though I am the best surgeon in 28 states, i NEED your help!"

I think to myself - "good god, if this wizard of a god needs help, I NEED to help him!!!"

It turns out Sadre wasnt licensed to practice medicine and this was all made up but I once bought a watch from this dude

Gshock here. Got prettier ones, but nothing comes close if you want a watch that can take a beating.

Well, my specialization is cardiovascular, but you were the only cariopulmonary specialist there, so it made sense to "form an alliance" as it were. Last thing I wanted was to be sentenced to Rura Pente for negligence again (long story, don't ask)

But a special mention has to go to Brownie Troop 263, who were earning their tree identification badges in a park across the street and who immediately leaped into action and assisted. Thankfully, the Troop had already gotten their traumatic thoracic surgery badges. They saved both our asses that day. Kids knew their stuff.

Don’t really like the Patek aesthetic. I could get behind a Royal Oak though. They hold value decently enough?

How annoying are people when you wear your Rolex?

I like the look of the Royal Oak, the octagon dial is unique. I've been told they don't hold value as well, I would expect you'll take a 25% haircut minimum if you re-sell it, even with box and papers.

There are probably a half dozen Rolexes on my floor at work so you have to go deeper than a base submariner or datejust for anyone to notice and pay attention. In NYC, the only people who ever comment on it are other watch enthusiasts.

I love my omega speed master dearly, and will probably never use another watch in my life.

Wife wants me buying a nice watch for myself. It’s been a good year, and she likes the idea of an heirloom to pass to our children.

Suggestions?

I’m leaning towards an Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch because I like the story (and the look).

By the way quaid the lore of some of the different ones and finding one that gives you enjoyment is important. I am the same way I went to space camp when I was a kid and always wanted to be an astronaut so that was my whole thing and why i arrived at it.

Careful buying online and getting the wrong face size, I think the 42 is the classic size.
