I tried to play DOS2 right after BG3 and I couldn’t get into the combat system - it was too different and didn’t feel as intuitive

I still rate the DoS series as some of the best RPGs ever made, but I genuinely hope they reduce the amount of the lame-ass comedy in the 3rd installment.

I appreciate moments of levity, but when the "hue hue hue" slapstick comedy is baked in, it really detracts from the game.

Well the third image that is trademarked is a dead ringer for the statue, so most likely Larian.

They are working on two games though, so might not be DS:3? (which they are obviously working on). Unless that image is Larian - Divinity only trademarks, and not just trademarks of Larian.

Reason being that Sven said in an earlier interview that
- They are working on two games
- Their next game (meaning next one released?) will be their most ambitious game to date. Think he said "crazy ambitious"
- Shouldn't be surprised if the game didn't launch until 2028+

However, once that happens, their release windows will probably be shorter as he stated regarding making multiple games ""I hope I can tell you five years from now, 'We cracked it. We figured it out. This is what we're doing now. Here's game one. We're making this completely different thing, game two, and when game two is going to be ready, we already have another thing that's gonna come.'""

To me it sounds odd to hype up a game everyone is expecting/know they are working on, like this. Especially if they are 3ish years away from release.

DoS1 was amazing, good combat. With their trademark style of "humor" which has been the tone of the Divinity series since they were those ARPGs. DoS2 was better in pretty much every regard. Characters, story and especially combat. However, a DoS:3 doesn't really seem to fit the bill of "crazy ambitious" when compared to BG3.

Maybe they've gotten the rights to another IP we don't know about yet.

MAJOR copium
- Supposedly this is tied to an "xbox" (so Microsoft release), Larian has no reason to limit themselves to a platform, unless Microsoft owns the IP
- Prior to BG 3, Larian pitched Bethesda a game in the Fallout series, but was denied.
- BG 3 success happened
- Microsoft makes a call

Dec 11, Larian Fallout CRPG announcement.

Same here, 100%. It's why I have a hard time getting genuinely excited for another Divinity title, and why the series never makes my personal "best CRPGs ever" lists. They're objectively solid games and deserve credit for helping bring the CRPG genre back from the brink, but that relentless "hue hue hue" Belgian humor in DOS1 and DOS2 was such a mood killer for me that it overshadowed a lot of what they did well.

I actually went into BG3 with muted expectations because of that tone, and to Larian's credit, they proved me wrong - BG3 is an all-timer. But even after that win, I'm not exactly chomping at the bit for another Divinity. At this point, I'd honestly rather see them take a swing at sci-fi for their next CRPG instead of doubling down on Divinity's goofy side.

What makes you think Original Sin?

Original sin doesn't use the I. Divine Divinity does. The original.

Divine Divinity was supposed to be a successor to Ultima 8. but, Diablo happened, so it was retooled into an action rpg. They always wanted to go back to that Ultima idea and we got Original sin after years of middling success and failures, and the company almost failing repeatedly.

The Leak title just says Divinity. Which implies either a Divine Divinity reboot/remake, or new game setting entirely. Still Rivellon. just different time.

Yeah I didnt think they were going to do more Divinity shit. That was their come up. They got bigger shit to do now. I think from the CEO dudes interview they were going to make new IPs.

Two Original IPs in Development: CEO Swen Vincke revealed that the team is “deep in the trenches” on two new RPGs. He described them as “crazy ambitious”, suggesting they will push boundaries in scope and design.

Amen. I like how Fallout 1, 2, 3, New Vegas, or Planescape did it—humor every now and then, not shoved in your face. The lore is great in Divinity, but fart jokes during the revelation of the Dragon death cult (or whatever) were whack.
