Trailer sucked and RT slammed it both critics and audience.

It's being promoted by Netflix for the asian female lead.

Kinda starts off OK as a survival horror type of movie, but then quickly devolves into dumb slop with a moronic feel good sappy ending. Just not worth it

Oh I started writing a post about this in the other thread. It was okay. About 30 minutes too long.

It very loosely reminded me of a book by Ray Nayler called The Mountain in the Sea where octopuses develop language and begin to attack humans.

The last part of the movie was pretty good with them tossing around the main characters like rag dolls, but the ending was dumb.

I just got done watching this.

I agree that the first maybe two-thirds isn't bad, but that's like you guys said it gets pretty cheesy.

What kind of irritates me and makes me wonder is whether or not this was supposed to be something more Lovecraftian, because the monsters would have been perfect to be a cthonian. You could have weaved in some stuff showing the people just going more insane and not just from the isolation, and it would have been all about Cthulhu rising, because the great old ones were on Earth before mankind.

I wonder whether or not maybe that was the original idea behind it, and then the execs said that's not going to reach a broad enough audience, so they changed it to this. You can just kind of see the bones if something that could have had some potential.
