The Walking Dead did this worse than any show, but it got a pass by a TON of people for some reason. It became just a soap opera about midway through the Negan story line and never recovered.

Honestly, the comic book is pretty soap opera-ish so it isn't a total departure. The crimes of the show, however, was the constant deus-ex-zombie and the totally implausible scenarios they made happen all the time.

Whatever happened with the WD? I stopped watching it sometime in the season before negan shows up. Now I see advertisements for all these offshoot stories and I kind of haphazardly saw stuff like Carl got killed, and Rick was off the show. Now they got something to New York, Daryl is in France or something, plus those other weird spinoffs.

They literally addressed this in the show...

They felt comfortable camping there and playing the drums because the tank lid made a much louder noise and no infected came running, so the area must be clear.

I didn't play the games, but I'm guessing the part with the disemboweled Wolves hanging form the ceiling and Ellie and Dina sneaking around when reinforcements come was in the game, because that shit did not translate to television. It was a little too much suspension of belief for me, but again, I'm guessing it came from the game and games are often composed of omega stupid shit where there's a 3% chance to not be detected and you always win. Just was rolling my eyes the whole time.

Ellie and Dina relationship shit is whatever, I'm not huge into TV relationships in general, but think that appeals more to the younger and especially female crowd.

I am very curious about the Wolves v Seraphites shit. I'm asuming we're going to get get the ol' "the bad guys were actually the good guys.... once!" thing, but most of this show has seemed to have a lot of grey areas so maybe it'll just be a faction war with no good side.

The room looked exactly like the game (the set design in the show is pretty damn good) and the same scenario. I half expected Ellie to sneak around, neck stabbing the wolves one by one. In general, the show has stuck pretty close to the game even in the set pieces. When they climbed into the subway station I said to my wife "oh, this is the part where they throw flares and everything is lit with a red glow".

This episode would have been pretty good if you cut out the last 20 mins where Ellie and Dina are just chatting and finger blasting away. It added nothing to the story.

As someone who is from Seattle I laughed pretty hard at the comment about the rainbow flags. Those fucking things are every where.

TBH Ellen Page wasn't attractive in her day either, but if someone that looked like that / looked like game Ellie was playing Ellie, I woudn't care if she was attractive or not. Her attractiveness is beside the point, the point is that she's totally miscast and Bella Ramsey kinda sucks at everything. No charisma with the other actors, no screen presence, no believability, not even likeable. The fact that she's got a downsey face is just sorta an extra thing to poke fun at but we wouldn't care if she was good in other areas.
