Is it the writing (TV adaptation) or was it like that in the game, I wonder? Its fundamental to this plot point. The black chick that was friends with Ellie's mom,in a real world she would need some really convincing evidence that killing her friends little girl would produce a cure. But she never bothers to mention thisevidence or show it to Joel to try to convince him?
I think the ideological thing is part of it for sure. Also stupidity, though. Its like a plot written by someone who thinks trolley problems are deep and thought provoking instead of gotcha traps for absolute retards.

Yeah if the show "improved' on anything, its in quietly dropping the Gigantor Roid Monster Abby angle (an likely tranny). The kind of resources to create a roided out monster young woman who can punch out Zombros with her bare hands is simply not going to be available 20 years after a societal collapse. Hell, nutrition concerns alone are enough to make even buff dudes unlikely. It was beyond stupid in the game. But the issue the show is running to (one of them anyhow) is that a lot of side story more or less was tied to the idea that Gigantor Tranny Abby was a thing, starting with why these other douchetard kids would even follow her as a leader. TV Show should have been Ellie Abby simply provides zero plausible reason why others would follow her leadership wherase at least the fear of your skull getting crushed by tranny dick keeping people in line was at least somewhat workable. There are a lot of things from the game that are just going to be more ludicrous because of the physiological change that should have been reworked in the show if they wanted to stick to the game plot, but Druckman is a hack and was laser focused on making Abby the main protagonist.

Was able to shut it off after just a few minutes, in part thanks to the reviews here.
Clicking through it just to verify I didn't miss anything. What Joel did or didn't do just isn't relevant at this point in the story.

I just finished both the games (which I had finished many years ago) and felt like the second game had good gameplay, but terrible story. It felt like a true leftist idea, full of hatred and revenge. I ended up hating everyone in the game.
Anyways I started season two of the show and I can't get over a few things:
1) Ellie and Dina both look like they're 10 years old. Watching them coordinate how to kill and watching them kill as well just seems incredibly fake.
2) None of these actors have any charisma. They all look like washed up DEI hires. Not a single good looking person.
3) Tommy's wife is a fat black woman. Just lmao

If nobody mentioned they were husband and wife, I'd have no clue they were meant to be married. They have zero chemistry together. When they're in the same room they barely even acknowledge one another. In the last episode, there was a scene where Tommy was playing with the kid and wife was sitting right next to them and didn't smile, interact with, or even look at them. It's fucking weird

I think Hated is a bit strong. I could see this if it were directed at the people responsible for what has come out for Last of Us, as that could have been done so much better. That being said, I did get a chuckle from one response.

They hired her because people fawned over her being a retard in GoT. What no one realized is she really was not acting and never has. You can get away with not being able to act if you are attractive, but alas she has epic levels of Derp Face, no acting ability, and a toxic personality that bleeds into everything she does or says. Not the person you should be putting in the role of the sympathetic protagonist that Ellie was in the first game. But the real culprit is the writing. You can completely tell where Druckman ran out of material to poach from Hennig's original story design, particularly where he inserted agenda in the dumbest of places (gay Ron Swanson episode right out of the gate completely fucked several arcs, as one example). But most people don't know who Druckman is, much less his history, so the potato girl is the easier target.
And yeah I said it was going to warp into the Abby show and now we have confirmation. Not exactly a hard prediction, but a lot of people who I know thought I was being hyperbolic about it. Pretty much everyone I know who was not a Kamala voter has completely noped out of the show. If they thought the ratings cratering this season was bad, just imagine what a third season with zero of the original cast really in focus is going to look like to the normies. A good writing team could make that work (see last couple SG1 series), but thats not Druckman.
