So apparently according to others this was all setup to show that Ellie keeps avoiding death and pushing towards Abby at all costs. Despite the universe telling her to stop.
It's been a long time but I think they cut a big village scene out and that was a throwback to it??

Seraphite island was a section from the Abby portion of the game and took place before the attack you see. Its not totally out of whack. Abby saves Lev as the WLF attack occurs (they mention she is missing in the show before the attack starts), and gets back to confront Ellie in time.
I dont think we will ever see the attack on the island itself, but we will get a good view of Haven.
I dunno I cant see myself watching it, but there would be a certain irony if Abby season becomes the favorite season and the only one people dont like is the Ellie season lol

got around to watching this while playing battlefront, what a garbage season. so bad that i retroactively removed season 1 & 2 from my Plex, no chance i'll ever rewatch this crap again.
its better than i honestly expected based on the thread, but its still so bad. episode 2's fight sequence, episode 6 especially joey pants, jeffrey wright, and some of the scar stuff was cool.
i just fast forwarded any time Ellie started talking, what a horrible miscast for adult ellie. never played TLOU2 so i have no idea how game accurate the show is but while season 1 felt like a TV show, season 2 felt like someone speed running a video game. The finale was hilariously bad, literally characters just teleporting around, dumping exposition via verbal diarrhea and then season over.
hope season 3 tanks hard, when it comes out in like 2 years or whatever. s1 was decent lone wolf and cub with a very special gay episode, s2 is just 2 dykes yukking it up in an apocalypse
also did ellie finger bang dina right after she got bit? will dinas vagina turn into a sarlacc pit? will her baby be born as a giant mushroom? that would get me very interested in s3

I didn't shut it off but wish I did. Worst finale in modern history possibly.
Didn't fastforward, but did drop volume to 0% for about a half an hour. I knew going into it that it sucked from reading the reactions here, so that's probably why it didn't get shut off. But it wasn't worth watching for the story beats. Every "big moment" rang hollow and was poorly done via a combination of bad acting and who gives a fuck.

Went in expecting terrible and got unwatchable. I'd say skip it. Can't remember any redeeming moment in the finale where it'd be worth your time if you are already familiar with the game story.
The "big moments" lack impact and were very poorly done. The guy above said it's terrible worthy of making an injury claim with a law firm, that's consistent with what I experienced-- and I went in with low expectations.
