I'm really interested what they do with Vecna in this. I'm curious how they confront one of AD&Ds most powerful Demigods and make it close as they can get to cannon, rather than making him just a really powerful Lich. Going to binge watch on Friday and see what happens.

Is vecna the whispered one? I knew I was supposed to recognize him.

Yes. I guess they can’t use Vecna, specifically due to copyright issues. I think he was referred to in AD&d as the “whispered one” in Forgotten Realms but I’d have to double check.
Vecna being such a huge antagonist I’m not sure how they faithful they are going to be to his power. The Vecna Lives module was rough. I don’t think there was a way to beat him without celestial help. Im wondering how VM will handle that level of power

Isn't the matron a god? There's your celestial help.

Also, isn't that what the hand and eye of vecna are for?

Like all stories, the power is what the writers decide. In the campaign they had a pretty great ending to Season 1 and Vox Machina. Who knows what they will change though, a decade later full of BS smoke up their asses, has made most of the smarmy ones way worse. But they are selling a product.

9 episodes so far (3 per week), watched 2 and its fine. The characters are all split up which sucks, hopefully they start coming together. There is not much humor at all so far, just all serious setup. I think the last 3 drop next week so good time to start. I didn't bother rewatching or even going through a recap so not sure what happened except I remember a big Candyman dragon did some bad shit last season but I guess they defeated it but a lot of people died.

So will this one finally be a real “final” death? Hard to give a fuck when it’s already happened 3-4 times before with eventual resurrections. I guess that’s D&D for you!

Yeah obviously I haven’t watched the actual campaign basis (beyond a few episodes a looong time ago when they still had Orion(?) the sorcerer guy), So I’m sure anyone who knows the campaign knows the answer to this question.
