It's in Bob Iger's published memoirs. They had a deal to make George's sequel trilogy and backed out of it pretty much instantly as soon as the ink dried.
George never blamed Kennedy for this, he knows it was all Disney.
He's back doing some consulting for Lucas Film as of a few years ago-- but it took several years of healing to get there. There was many times Kennedy wanted to call George and said she couldn't around 2017 TLJ pre-ROS.

People do forget that Lucas was responsible for a lot of the unpopular changes to the original trilogy in the special editions (Greedo shooting first, then later relented slightly and made Greedo+Han shoot simultaneously) and the prequel trilogy was poorly received. It took the Clone Wars cartoons to rehabilitate the audience perception of the prequels.
People also forget that while he did originate the overall ideas, other script writers wrote ESB and ROTJ.

Dude is a hack and has always been a hack and the only reason Star Wars was successful at all was his editors and everyone else telling him "No", "STFU" and "we can't afford that, just use practical effects here"
Star Wars succeeded in spite of him and he knew it which is why when Empire completely overshadowed the success of what was renamed "A New Hope" he got mad and started trying to reinvent the story in return of the jedi and added in all his dumb shit furry toys. Vader wasn't even Luke's father in Lucas' version of the story that was added by much better writers than him. Fucking Ewoks and rehashing the same deathstar plot from the first film is the first time we saw Lucas "ideas" and they were shit, even when he had people around him telling him no.
We know exactly how good an "idea guy" Lucas was when he had free reign to do whatever he wanted, the prequels were absolute shit with zero redeeming qualities at all and until the sequels came out I didn't think it was possible to ruin a franchise in such a spectacular way.
With Disney and KK though we at least know they are doing it on purpose because they are woke trash that hate men. George actually thought his shit was good and he was a talented creator.

Had to look them up. They are both entirely new canon, none of that legends stuff. So there's no reason to think merrin won't be right there along side of him. Unless this is set before they met. I didn't bother to look at the timing.

The games take place in the time period between the prequels and the original trilogy from what I recall. Cal is supposed to be a similar age to Ashoka, so realistically we would be looking at them appearing 15-20ish years after the events of the games unless the upcoming 3rd game has a massive time skip (which is quite possible considering how the 2nd game ended)

Wouldn't be hard to age Cameron up a bit. Cal Kestis is a pretty cool character, one of the few highlights from Star Wars gaming in the last 10+ years. Also if we get Cal they need to shoehorn in Kyle Katarn too lol.
