More than a little stoked for their coming album.

I absolutely love instrumentals. You don't see many bands do instrumentals anymore. In the 80s, everyone had an instrumental then they just kinda stopped...in the metal scene anyway. I've noticed some bands are bringing them back.

I didn’t get into ‘real’ metal until about ‘99 so can’t really comment about before then, but they’ve definitely been around

I grew up with the Big 4. I prefer Big 5 because I throw Testament in there as well but a lot of 80s metal bands used to do instrumentals. Metallica had Anesthesia, Call of Ktulu, Orion, and Live is to Die, Testament had Dirge and Urotsukidoji and Last Call. Then it seemed they just stopped. Just not them specifically, lots of bands did for Metallica, 2008 was their last instrumental , before that was 1988. Testament released an instrumental this year, before that 1991. I've noticed newer bands like Shadow of Intent and Orbit Culture have done instrumentals but there was a good 20 years where bands just didn't do them.
