even if leslie nielson was alive and not 100 hundred years old, the movie would still suck. some of that humor simply could not be reproduced in this day and age.

Ed Helms cannot pull off the comic mastery of Neilson. It will be worse than Steve Martin trying to pull off inspector clouseau. It's not just the gags, it's his obliviousness to them that's gold.

Writers Thomas Lennon and R Ben Garant - who also wrote the upcoming Baywatch for Paramount - will inherit screenplay duties from the Zucker brothers.

Not yet, but it's written. They describe it as "Reno 911 with sexy people". So not a serious movie of course, more like Starsky and Hutch or the Brady Bunch movies or something. Could be really funny.

As for a Naked Gun remake, fuck no.
