They really nailed the "dumb comedy" thing. I don't really want to call it slapstick, but just...stupid jokes? Not quite dad jokes. It's something where modern day "dumb comedy" just doesn't land. I wish I could describe exactly what it is. Calling them dumb doesn't really do it justice either.
But whatever the x factor is, they fucking knocked it out of the park.
Not only that, but they really had the gumption to stick with the jokes. I feel like a lot of writers would pull back on them, but they really just leaned into so many of them.
I think when people say it captures the feel of the original Naked Gun movies, this is what they're talking about. But no one can exactly describe with "it" is.
