Brand New Day will surely affect it but if it only does average blockbuster weekend drops from now on, it looks to still be headed to 400/1200 for sure.

Went with a crew last night and saw it. Would give it a generous 6/10. Certain scenes were decent but overall very flat and stilted.
I think of all the resources at their disposal and this is the best they came up with? If this movie is evidence Nolan has reverence for the source material and always wanted to adapt it, why bother if you’re going to treat it like this?

Honestly the cyclops scene was the only one worth watching. People say the pig scene was good but it was stupid. That blue haired ugly femnazi ruined it. The siren scene was dumb. Scyla was like 10 seconds and looked like penis monster. The return home scene was very underwhelming, really silly looking fighting. Anything with Elliot page or lupita in it makes you want to throw up in your mouth.
Go watch clash of the titans or sinbad or Jason and the argonauts if you want a fun adventure movie. This one sucks. 4/10 Just like Lupita.

the nature of the poem is different from modern movie making. as Efap noted, Argus is not "setup" in the poem at all. oh look, its masters dog who waited for him 20 years, who has never been mentioned prior. its weird in the movie, not weird at all in the poem.
in the same sense, the poem doesn't need to actually set up or elaborate on the conspiring/duplicitous housemaids.
it is correct to say, the movie would have needed to. sleeping with the suitors, doing spywork for them, shit talking Telemachus, etc, then instantly flipping sides the moment Daddy returned. Sparticus had multiple seasons to set up the fall. this doesn't.
they CAN still be the heroes. it just takes set up, because the difference in the nature of the poem versus movie, and the target audience. the ancient target audience would have instantly understood the implications of Telemachus's line.
