I’m always reminded of this guy’s “head in the clouds”, oxygen-deprived takes on everything whenever I see that giraffe-necked avatar. Even from that vantage he still can’t see the forest for the trees.
The words you are looking for are "I would like it to be [...]". The only thing it is supposed to be is what its author wants. If Nolan wants to strip the film of the "When you go oldie, go Limey" trope and use mundane modern language instead of poetic elevated language to make the tale more relatable, it is his prerogative. Your prerogative is to like these choices or not.
Your schoolmarm chiding on artistic license doesn’t carry much weight when so many of Nolan’s creative decisions in this movie are nothing more than pandering to the Academy. Considering that Homer’s work has endured for nearly three millennia, Nolan might’ve had the humility (and honesty) to stay in his lane on these issues.

When Telemachus says "Dad" we're no longer talking about a for realsies Homer approved tale. So getting upset about ooga booga actors is just silly. And turning it into a Hollywood studio DEI conspiracy makes it extra lulz.
This is an absolutely terrible argument. “Because they fucked up on one aspect just don’t even point out the other aspects they fucked up even worse”

Hollywood DEI conspiracy? They literally changed the rules for awards so that you must have DEI in order to be eligible. This isn’t a conspiracy, it’s an open rule.

They did that 5-ish years ago and as has been pointed out, the rules are so lax, every single Best Picture winner in Oscar history all the way back to the 1920s or so would've qualified under those rules. And Oppenheimer won no problem with basically an all-white cast and using 21st Century English intead of 1940s English throughout.

No silly goose

The Oscars are obviously retarded. What everyone here seems to imply is that Nolan has _no choice_ but to darken up his movie. "Hollywood" demanded it or Nolly no get 250 milly.

What I'm saying is it's clear Nolan had no intention of running with a 70mm IMAX documentary about ancient Greece.

What would an historically accurate Odysee look like? Bunch of people get on a boat, 2 guys die in a storm, 2 more to scruvy. 3 months later they come home. The End.

The whole ackshually about how light the rules are falls on it's face in one word. "Moonlight".

Rules or no rules-- Moonlight proved if you load up on DEI in the main cast and tell a DEI story you can get stronger consideration over more deserving movies.

If that is so, Oppenheimer proved the opposite that if you all-white the main cast and tell a white-guy story you can get stronger consideration over more deserving movies.

And no rules on diversity or anything existed when Moonlight won in 2017. Almost 10 years ago? You really think Nolan, after winning for Oppenheimer, suddenly looked at Moonlight and thought .. bruh, gonna need to cast Lupita to win in the slipstream of Moonlight as Oppenheimer didn't cut it? Lol.

Ahhh yes
The blockbuster, box office slaying Moonlight. Wait a minute... It didn't make shit?

Nolan must really need that black Helen so he can get his nomination to increase the popularity of his movie ...

interesting Q&A, how does a chinese student talk and ask better questions than western journalists lol

she got in hard with her second question of the fact that the word atonement doesn't even exist in greek culture but the entire movie is about that idea

also Troy 4K UHD rips are out today

does she ask why hes ruining the movie with DEI and why he takes a big woke dump on the source material? Otherwise, why not
