I feel that. I suspect also that I may be chasing the same issue I had with overdrives.

I have currently 2 overdrives: ibanez ts9 and a Maxon od808x (a od808 made and modified by Maxon). The od808x is a little too sharp imo, even with the tone (treble) knob at 0 it’s still slightly too sharp. I turn down the tone knob on my guitar to compensate. I usually play in drop B or D standard.

With overdrives, I’ve bought others, too. The EQD Arrows and returned it. I also then bought the Lichtlaerm Aesahaettr boost w/ cut and eq. Eq section was really metallic sounding (only way I know how to describe it, even slightly adjustments to mid or high made it sound very tinny), and I didn’t use the cut knob more than the first week. I ended up reselling it on eBay.

Now I know not to chase after the perfect overdrive because I already have two, a 808 and a ts9, and I’m happy with those.

as for the HM-2, would love a little more tone control. The gain channel on the thunderverb only has the stupid tone knob that’s on older orange amps. I’ve had the amp for 10+ years, but I should probably sell it and buy something with a dedicated eq section like a JCM2000 or something. I’ve had a peavey 6505, an orange terror, and a mess dual rect, but ended up selling those, too. I’ve had the thunderverb the longest. My only complaint on it honestly is the lack of eq section. Everything else is great.
Maybe try the JHS JB-2 if you can find one? thats probably the HM-2 evolved clone that I would go with because it allows you to control how the circuits are stacked.

as for OD, my personal favorite is the TS9, but if you want more low mid range control you might want to try a fulltone fulldrive 2 for overdrive. Its a mix of the SD-1 and TS with a little more low end and asymmetrical clipping. Sounds really good with a nice warm tube amp.

I don't think the Angry Driver (which is a Blues Driver clone) can get the chainsaw tone. The DS-1 can if you dime the tone knob, but the HM-2 is based on the Ds-1 circuit.

This is the chainsaw tone I'm referring to. It's almost like an oscillating high mid frequency. You use it to drive already overdriven amps. Really, it's an EQ circuit and not a distortion pedal. Most folks online who review HM-2 style pedals dont run them into driven/dirty amps, and to use it in the chainsaw application, you have to use a dirty amp.

Anyone here play swedish death metal chainsaw tones?

I have a MIJ HM-2 I run into my orange thunderverb, but I’m thinking of picking up the KMA Wyrm2 and the Lichtlaerm Medusa. Not really sure if they’re big improvements on the HM-2 w/ a noise gate.
I have a MIJ HM-2 and a newer waza craft one. I don't really play with them too much anymore but time to time I bust them out for some fun. I even modded the MIJ one to use a standard 9V DC power supply.

I will say there's a reason they're the gold standard and while the clones are really nice, I'm not sure they're going to offer more than you're already getting.

I did a 45 minute dismember set a few years ago and it was really fun. I was much fatter then.

Bought two new guitars recently that I've really been enjoying - a Bill Nash 57' strat that's reliced tastefully, and a PRS CE 22. The CE's are my favorite PRS', but I've never liked 24 fret guitars, so I jumped on one and it's a really great instrument. It also has my favorite (other than the DGT) pups, the 58/15 LT's from the old Mccarty's. I've been playing a LOT lately, and this guy on youtube has been very helpful for me to improve as a guitar player.

Playing lead, he's been a great instructor for me and my intermediate level:

Thanks for listening to my livejournal.

It's an ESP Horizon NT-7 (Japan, standard series). Actually has a different logo that was used for exactly one year before they changed to E-II.

ok as a 90s kid that DOES NOT sound like come as you are, the rest are fine

this ai is pretty good (i'm sure it just sifts thru all the forum community settings) i bought my wife the travel version
Positive Grid Spark GO 5W Ultra-Portable Smart Guitar Amp, Headphone Amp & Bluetooth Speaker with Smart App for Electric Guitar, Acoustic or Bass

the ai wasn't even something i cared about, she just wanted a "cute" travel amp, even tho she has the nux mighty plug, she just hates wearing earphones playing

but the ai search is nice, rather than cycle thru 100 presets

i find it more user friendly than the fender gtx100
