Wife works at a middle school. We both had to have MMR boosters cuz anti-vax peeps have let measles get strong and the vax we had as kids wasn't strong enough. I told her that if she brings me to a school function and anyone mentions how they don't do vaccinations I am just going to start swinging. No words , just fists. I choose violence!

They're not bad people (usually - that British guy who started all this as a scam to sue pharma companies to get rich probably qualifies as bad even though he claims to be remorseful now), they're just fucking stupid. Somehow "covid shots r bad" morphed into "all vaccines are bad" and you've got dumb fuck parents not inoculating their kids for diseases that will literally kill or maim them
We've got people rejecting pasteurized milk, rejecting vaccines against easily preventable diseases, next up I guess people will decide that untreated water is healthier for you and get infected with parasites, worms, and cholera ("raw water" movement is super fringe, but give it time at this rate)
Anti-vaxxers have been around long before covid. Remember the left started that movement, with Jenny McCarthy most notably.

I'm not an anti-vaxxer, I and my kids all got MMR, etc. My son recently got the meningococcal vaccine with my blessing.
With that said, if the covid fiasco didn't make you rethink all medical advice from the past century or so, I suspect some kind of debilitating cognitive problems.
As far as I'm concerned, at this point literally every piece of medical consensus needs to be reevaluated, starting from the assumption that its bullshit and requiring evidence to disprove that assumption.

Oh I know. Anti-vaxxers used to be primarily the essential oils heal everything crew and the Infowars adherents. Covid just turned it into a political thing and you saw a massive shift towards a larger segment of conservatives buying into it as well. Remember when 4chan used to make fun of unvaccinated kids before it became political?
Mumps, measles, polio, etc. One thing to keep in mind is some of the main risks of some diseases isn't always the core disease, but the fact it can cause stuff like meningitis as a severe side effect.

THIS. I told my wife I would gladly go get all those COVID boosters she keeps pestering me about the day they take it off the emergency approval list - which would mean there was actual science showing it was effective. Her boosted mother gave it to her boosted father who have it to my boosted wife who gave it to me. How do I know that? I was home alone, getting over a back surgery that didn't work. So if you get the shot, which is 2 jabs, then the booster(s) which were 2 different jabs, then you still get the fucking disease? WTF.
EDIT: But it doesn't have anything to do with the show.

Antivax is now being applied to anyone who doesn’t blindly follow government directives as far as personal health decisions are concerned. Most of my career has been in pharma, and just like any other publicly traded industry, it all comes down to profit. Companies buy politicians; politicians make sure the companies make as much money as possible so they stay in office. But yeah, this suddenly huge group of anti-vaxxers deserve to get put down
