Man, I was hoping it was a remake of this gem.



Think I have a DVD of it still. Pretty good adaptation of The Case of Charles Dexter Ward. Like the first time I saw it was back in middle school late one night on Showtime or something, before the boob movies.

First thing I thought of when I saw the thread. Vinegar Syndrome did a 4K that popped up in my YouTube feed recently.

It's such a good movie even for being a B movie. Definitely one of the better Lovecraft adaptations ever put to celluloid, and I don't think a lot of people really know about it.

It's worth a watch. I think the lady was from Charles in Charge! It's just a fun Lovecraft B movie.

High production value Netflix series imported from Taiwan. Dubs are high quality (by Asian standards) and voice acted.

Some good themes here exploring forgiveness, crime and punishment, and the fraud culture of China.

I'd say it's worth checking out if you want more insight into fraud in China. But it's at least full 3 episodes too long (critics agree) and should have ended after 6-7 episodes.

Writing is terrible. First few episodes are great-- falls off a cliff halfway through with flashback after flashback.

Disorganized storytelling (typical with Asian writers) on steroids. Ruined an otherwise potential good show.
