Here's another fundamental difference between me and the peanut gallery: I don't think it's OK to act like an asshole, even when provoked. I have no doubt that you will incorrectly interpret that as "Tanoomba says you should just let people shit on you" when what I'm actually saying is "There are better ways to respond to being provoked than by acting like an asshole." And yes, as much as many people here hate to hear it because it goes entirely against their "FIGHT THE BAD GUY!!!" mentality, sometimes (often?) ignoring provocation is by FAR the best response, EASILY several orders of magnitude better than lashing out or acting like an asshole.

SJWs have literally never said a single word about "you", Soygen, unless you know some personally who have made comments about you specifically. Quaid, you took a stance I had made explicitly clear and twisted it into an exaggerated caricature that had literally nothing to do with what I was saying. If I won't let Lithose get away with that, I won't let you. The informal nature of these online discussions means sometimes we address people in ways we wouldn't IRL, or over a microphone at a club, but I apologize for offending you with the "retarded" remark (not so much for the "jerk" remark, which was pretty apt and not remotely an "asshole" response).

I also hope you understand it's not "all or nothing" with me. I can agree with you on one thing and disagree with another. I can praise you one moment and chastise you the next. Khalid apparently believes I am throwing you to the dogs because you took a cheap shot at me, but I hope you understand that just because you can be a schmuck sometimes, it doesn't mean I'm washing my hands of you and burning bridges here. What are white cis males being accused of, exactly? What can you find me that wouldn't, at WORST, just be some idiot saying something stupid on Twitter? What could you show me that illustrates why you had to go from "not giving a shit" to being an active anti-SJW? You wouldn't agree with them anyway, so providing that information to you is pointless. Your answer to all of the complaints is that we should just ignore it, while people are being publicly shamed, losing or stepping down from jobs and being silenced in their industries.

Attacking community members with insults does not get a pass from me, even when I do it. However, I like to think that when I succumb to emotional impulses and lash out with an insult, it is usually within the context of an actual point I am making and not a replacement for one. When people call Sarkeesian a liar, a fraud and a con artist, they are not making a point. They will try to justify the labels with irrelevant, outdated, debunked and misinterpreted information, but it's a farce designed to create an enemy to rally against. If they actually gave a fraction of a shit about what she was doing, they would criticize her work legitimately, the only way to actually make some kind of positive counter to whatever perceived negative effect she supposedly has. It's incredibly pathetic and transparent, and that's why it gets condemnation from me. I can not stand people rejecting reason and logic in favor of participating in a witch hunt. So it's a little more than "insults", which I thought I had made clear the many, many times the topic has come up.
