sjw's are like islamic terrorists, they have a right to act that way because they're lesser people somehow, you however should act like Hindu monks, calm in front of all storms, every utterance is within your distinct control so you are wrong to not exercise utmost chastity and turn the cheek at all moments, the other lesser beings may act as they please without qualm, they are a made up problem, your own individual restraint is everyone's problem because you're the only being with agency.
This is what is called hitting the nail on he head. It's a dead-on accurate description of what is happening with the soft bigotry of the extreme social left. Well done fana.

Doc: "holy shit lol"

Ummm, have you ever read one of Sebudai's many rants where he insists that mocking and ridiculing people is a really fantastic way to help people change for the better? Maybe he's an extremist, but it seems to me like he just made the effort to justify what was really obvious to him but that many others carefully tippy-toe around: That people love to act like assholes and will actively seek out opportunities to do so. In order to make peace with that, he had to convince himself that this is somehow the "right" way to act and works out for the best in the end (a claim so patently ridiculous I have a difficult time grasping how anyone can believe it).

Now, I don't know how much you buy into Seb's rationalization, but it's pretty clear to me that many, many people LOVE to have a bad guy to shit on. Lashing out at people you believe to be beneath you is incredibly fulfilling and satisfying, isn't it? Nobody likes to consider that their own actions might make them out to be a piece of shit, however, so they need to find SOME kind of rationalization. "These people don't deserve anything better than mocking", "White cis males are under attack", "She's a liar, a fraud and a con artist"... these are all weak as shit rationalizations used to shelter oneself from the stigma usually associated with acting like an asshole. It's much, MUCH easier to maintain that bubble when you surround yourself with like-minded individuals who also want to feel good about being assholes, hence the bro mentality circle jerk that we see so often here. You've given each other a pass to act like assholes, so when someone from outside the bubble points out that, actually, you're still an asshole, it's easy for the community to dogpile on the voice of dissent.

I don't have a bubble. After months of waiting, I was finally made a member of Neogaf. That was months ago, and I haven't made a single post there yet. Why? Because I'm not interested in having my views repeated back to me ad nauseum. I want to be challenged. I want to be proven wrong sometimes. I want to question my own beliefs and see if they hold up under scrutiny. So I put them to the test here, and while sometimes I am forced to realize that I had things all wrong, for the most part Rerolled has done an excellent job proving to me that I'm overall on the right track. So thanks for that.

Being compelled to sequester yourself to a backwater part of a highly intelligent, critical, and well read community has convinced you that you are 'on the right track'?

Could you explain this please?

LOL. Tanoomba doesn't want to participate in one of the worst online communities because all he would hear there is his own opinion parroted back at him.

Quaid: "Being compelled to sequester yourself to a backwater part of a highly intelligent, critical, and well read community has convinced you that you are 'on the right track'?

Sure.

The vitriol that my comments have provoked have proven to me how unwilling some people are to have their own beliefs challenged. The fact that the only way I can express myself without society collapsing is by self-censoring to the Rickshaw shows that my views clearly carry weight and are not easily ignored (no matter how often I suggest doing just that). But most importantly, the fact that despite being grossly outnumbered on many of my views, a "highly intelligent, critical, and well read community" has repeatedly failed to show me how I am wrong and has instead often resorted to ad hominem, cheap and lazy insults, straw men (oh, Lord, the straw men!) crying to authorities, and spamming shit posts... Well, how can I NOT be on the right track? I have given every opportunity to use logic and reason to explain, for example, how pushing the "liar, fraud and con artist" narrative is in any way more productive than actually criticizing Sark's work. What did I get in response? Righteous indignation, moral grandstanding, more references to irrelevant info, lots and lots of dismissive personal attacks, and not a single explanation how pushing that narrative accomplishes anything other than the opposite of intended effect. An entire community ("highly intelligent, critical, and well read") could not defend the narrative they were pushing. I mean, some tried (like the aforementioned Sebudai), but nobody came close to using logic or reason. It was all feels-based rationalization garbage. And that's just one example (albeit a big one).

What happens when logic and reason are used to prove me wrong? Well, I admit I was wrong and learn from my mistake. With the Zimmerman case, the facts themselves made it clear that Zimmy was justified in his actions and that racism wasn't necessarily a factor in what transpired. I couldn't argue against what was being presented. My initial impressions were wrong and I admitted it and never looked back. We have come nowhere near that level of conclusiveness with most of the conflicts between my views and those of the community at large.

Finally, let's not pretend that this community is an ecosystem containing every variety and type of person. I mean, yes, there are a lot of very different people with very different backgrounds and very different opinions, but there are things that connect them. These things (such as an aversion to SJWs) are probably part of the reason all these people post here. It's cathartic and I don't blame them for wanting reassurance that others share their beliefs, but that sense of being part of the majority has its downsides too, a tendency to dismiss opposing views out of hand being one of them.

Actually, we did, over and over.

We have come nowhere near that level of conclusiveness with most of the conflicts between my views and those of the community at large.
Yes, because you refuse to see reason. You refuse to admit basic facts, like she was most definitely talking about Hitman. That is why YOU haven't reached any conclusiveness on it, but it is pretty conclusive to everyone else.

Anyway, your whole post was pretty much "yeah, because people oppose me really vehemently, I must be right". It is silly.

Doc: "didn't read"

Wasn't for you, Doc, it was a response to a question Quaid asked.

Having said that, I always appreciate you going out of your way to come to this thread and post that you're not reading my posts. Please don't hesitate to mention it again in the future.

Warble garble hooza what now, Fana?
It is a true thing to say that fanaskin does not have a glowing reputation with the world's English Grammar-Nazi's. He types in all lower case, uses commas where there should be periods, tends to run-on, and has a very quick pace to his style. But if you equate those minor malformities of his language with actual stupidity, you are truly lost and very small.

You misunderstand, Gerb. I have no problem with ANYBODY'S spelling or grammar errors, as long as they don't interfere with their intended meaning. I teach English for a living, I don't judge people for making minor mistakes when they type. Fana's just my special little guy because much of his commentary makes no sense regardless of grammar/spelling. He has a knack for addressing me with points that I'm sure he believes have value, but have little to no relation to anything I've been talking about. That blurb about "proof", for instance, might as well have been a fruitcake recipe for how little connection it had to the post he was (apparently?) responding to. I would have let it slide, but since he gets cocky enough to include unnecessary snide comments, I thought I'd have fun with him. I'm glad he posts here, but I'd be genuinely surprised if he was older than 15.

Those super conspiracy people all tend to do that. You know the ones that have doubts about the moon landing and such. "This is PROOF of X, This is PROOF of y", no it's not proof of anything special jellybean.
